My vision gets foggy as the orchestra starts to play. I can feel my body shaking. I'm trembling.
''Ssh, ssh, ssh, you're gonna be okay. You can do this.''
Finn rubs my shoulders and Sophia tilts her head and gives me a sympathetic nod as I turn to face the isle.
So is that what I am?
Is this what I've become?
A pathetic childhood friend who is emotionally unstable because she can't get over her childhood crush?
I look around the table and try to read the faces of my childhood friends. Chosen wears his smile like a girl wears her makeup. Jaeden's face is impossible to read, but I can bet you we're both regretting our past actions, wishing we had gotten to him before she did. Jeremy is brimming with excitement at the altar as his best friend's bride's silhouette becomes visible down the hall and out the doors. As for poop Sophia and Finn, I've forced them into comforting me, trying to keep me from becoming a sobbing mess, because we all know waterproof pills are as fake as Eddie's prescribed pills.
I pull myself together as everyone stands and she begins to walk down the isle. I'm not going to deny my envy for her. She's marrying my best friend. The greatest man in the world. i mean who wouldn't wanna be her. She has it all. The looks, the body, the hair, and now the man. Everything I don't have. And I know for a fact, me and Jaeden would switch places with her in a heartbeat. No doubt about it.
Finn grabs my hand as she walks down the isle. When she reaches the altar I refuse to look at them. Instead me and Jaeden hold each other's gaze, not daring to look at the soon to be married couple. I clench Finn's hand so tightly, that without realizing it, I've turned his poor knuckles white. I quietly gasp and let go of his hand as his gaze meets mine and he rubs my shoulder, trying to calm my nerves.
I try to zone out, not wanting to hear them pronounce their love for each other in front of 250 people and cameras. My brain clearly does not get the message because I end up paying attention long enough to hear them talk about the end of it all for me. The IT premier.
I remember that day like the back of my hand. I remember the jealousy evident on my face when Nicholas introduced her to the whole group. Me and Sophia were the only girls in the group and I was not ready to let another one join ur party.
Wyatt was clearly in love though. Everything he may or may not have felt for me was demolished in that one second. And for the whole 3 hours of the premier and the after party at the Wolfhard residence, to Wyatt, it was like I didn't even exist. So as soon as the party was over, I ran. I didn't care if they saw me, which they did, all that mattered was that I was leaving, and that was that.
I try my hardest to zone out, but I can't. Instead my heart aches as I listen to the soon to be couple recite their vows.
''You may now kiss the bride.''
I struggle to get out of my seat but I can't with Finn and Sophia holding me down as tears pour furiously down my cheeks. But as soon as they're both out of energy, I run, just like I did the last time I was in the presence of the new Mr. and Mrs. Oleff.
