"well no, for your information i was nine back then." a humorless laugh escapes from jaerin's lips as she tries to control her balance of not rolling on her back after hearing his funny statement of her being a crybaby

"then i must've been the worst brother ever!" he exclaims, in a way that he loathed himself for not remembering most of their childhood together.

this kind of thought has actually been lingering in jaerin's mind for some decent amount of time. she finds it ridiculously tiring and saddening for her after trying to bring her mind to open back those memories of her childhood, yet only little bits of it comes to resurface.

"no, you're just you. and i'm me," jaerin says and nudges him on the shoulder as she stands up from the cushion that they sprawled all over the living room's rug.

jaerin takes another look around the living room and again it doesn't stop making her smile. in a way this place, the house that her brother rented during his small trip has absorbed his warmth and it somehow takes her back to short trip down the memory lane.

"it's been quiet this days." he sighs, "you know since mom moved in with mama, she still couldn't get herself to visit dad." his sentence drawls up into something jaerin couldn't get herself to forget.

jaerin turns to look at him as she comes to crouch down on her knees. his index finger tracing into loops of tangled threads onto the carpet as he's dwelling deeper in his reverie and she takes his hand into hers.

"have you visited him?" and now he turns to look at her.

"i did, yesterday. why?" jaerin's brother replies shortly.

jaerin then lets go of his hand and stares at the beige rug for a second.

her brother picks up with this habit of her. it has always been clear for him whenever jaerin needs to process the amount of sentiment, she would always drop everything she does and goes silent and still.

with that, her brother pulls her in and tucks her in his arms, calming her down. in hopes that this would prevent her from breaking down. "i want to go, to at least tell him how i've been. i miss him," jaerin says once she brings her mind back together.

"i'll go with you, don't worry."

jaerin replies with a soft hum, because now she needs to know how well will she handle seeing her father and not to cry when she visits him for the first time in over decade.
