the show starts like the story written in a children's book, with the wicked uncle plotting for his brother's death and for his nephew to escape.
even though the lights have gone off so that all audiences would pay attention to the spotlight in the ice rink — taehyung couldn't help but to discretely glance repeatedly at the woman sitting beside him as tears wouldn't come to stop sliding down from her eyes.
at first taehyung wanted to ask her if something was wrong, but he came to a point that it would be considered rude, so he resorts to the only choice left by subtly placing a tissue on her side of seat.
jaerin tried her best to not break in to tears as like she promised herself three hours ago, but the lion king always has her in a crying mess and now she's starting to regret watching the ice show in the first place.
though through her nonstop sobs she couldn't help but to be intrigued about the man sitting by her left. she first thought that the tissue existed because he accidentally dropped it to her side of seat, but now after jaerin counts the amount of tissue balls she has in her fists it seems to good to be an accident.
so with shaky breaths and jittery hands jaerin turns her body slightly to the left to face the man who have been not so discretely giving her tissues. "thank you for the tissues. i don't really know how you knew i was crying, but thanks." jaerin whispered softly and turned back to face the show in front of her.
taehyung smiles slightly by her gesture and he couldn't stop the grin from growing wider. "umm, no problem miss." taehyung replies shortly with his eyes glued on the show upfront.
the ice show keeps on going and when it's about to reach the end jaerin still feels uneasy about simply saying thanks to the man beside her. so as cliché it can get, she asks him. "umm, i'm sorry but i still feel uneasy abo-," she says, her voice low.
before jaerin could finish, the lights are turned on and taehyung finally sees the mysterious woman who has been crying since the start of the ice show.
unlike jaerin who have been gnawing on her lip to prevent herself from anymore cries, taehyung shows a big boxy smile out of nowhere which startles jaerin a bit. taehyung soon catches up why she suddenly distanced herself from him which sends him into a big shy red mess.
oh shit. it's her. it's moon jaerin. i'm freaking out. oh wow i'm so lucky. ok calm down taetae, you got this. taehyung closes his mouth immediately after finishing his mental pep talk, "i'm sorry that was... peculiar," taehyung says and it seems to drag as he couldn't think of any other words.
taehyung eventually stands up and grabs his coat, wanting to avoid any opportunity that might make him more of a joke in front of the woman he has always adored from the screen.
though before taehyung could leave, jaerin blocks his way from exiting the area. "as i said before, i'm still feeling a bit uneasy for only thanking you. it makes me feel a bit in debt," jaerin says which after she thinks about it — might sounded a tad stranger to taehyung.
"don't be then, it was very sincere." taehyung nods and waits for jaerin to move from his way.
but jaerin doesn't budge, "nope. i'm not taking that, i'll buy you coffee or anything else you'd like." jaerin states fervently and is almost taking out her wallet to pay him.
"uhh... don't pay or buy me anything, please." taehyung is caught in a daze and is unable to accept the fact that jaerin is talking to him.
jaerin looks up, confused. "go for a walk with me and perhaps tell me why were you crying?" taehyung manages to while the sentence out without making it seem a bit creepy, luckily.
jaerin sees it that he didn't want anything extravagant and she chooses to respect his decision, "sure. just don't kill me." and jaerin moves away, letting taehyung to walk pass her.
taehyung smiles and waits for her to walk as he stands from the end of the aisle, i wouldn't want that to happen either.
•• update! i messed up big time akskakka. a friend told me that the name was literally the same as a certain public figure and that's when i realize i've unconsciously named my character Jaein, which I've now changed into Jaerin. hehehe i'm sorry for that and also a heads up, this story will probably finish by chapter 20 or something close to that. keep yourself warm and well hydrated! xxsunny.
