In 2015
We had over 50 African American deaths
All because they look suspicious
They were just trying to have some fun
Or were innocent people
I didn't know
Wearing a black hoodie
Meant we deserve a bullet to our head
Or taking the train with friends across town meant "Line up against the wall your under arrest"
Somebody getting shot
Effects all of us
Why do we have to worry about tomorrow
When tomorrow should be promised
But tomorrow seems like a broken promise
Because we didn't make it to see tomorrow
Black lives matter will be something I say
Till I die
We are in 2016 now
You would think the shootings would stop
Another headline on the TV says
"Unarmed African American shot and killed by a white police officer"
Protest in different cities increase
So does the death rate of African Americans
Felix Kumi
An innocent bystander who was shot and killed during a sting operation just because he was standing near the suspect
How many years did the officer get?
0
Michael Sabbie
Sprayed by police with pepper spray while in jail and died soon after
How many years did the officer get?
0
Lets just say the tables turned
And an African American cop kills a white person
They would get jail for life
Skin tone doesn't define personality
Skin tone doesn't determine our actions
Skin tone defiantly doesn't predict our death date
The future should be something we cherish
Not be afraid of
The future is unpredictable
It is sad when we can predict the future
At times
Living a normal life
Isn't normal at all
We should be able to live
No matter the race or color
We should all
Be able to breath
