the heart doesn't break,
it s h a t t e r s,
you can put the pieces
back together
but the cracks will always be there

the damage has already been done

foolish,
so naïve,
steady falling for the same lies
that broke you last time

*~*~*~*

"stop," says the brain
"they'll only end up hurting you"
but the heart doesn't listen
and instead, does its own thing
accepting heartbreak all over again
