Pacific Rim: The Uprising Begins

Chapter Eight: Phantom, Ultra, and Cobalt

Back at the Shatterdome, news quickly got around about what happened to Cosmic Apogee, and about Alice's condition. This was definitely bad news for them all. Once both Alex and his sister arrived back at the base, medical teams got both brother and sister taken into the Shatterdome's infirmary at once.

Fortunately for Alex, he only suffered slight cuts and bruises across his form, thanks to his Jaeger armour, while Alice was another story: she had suffered concussion and had been knocked unconscious when she hit her head against the side of the Conn-Pod, and in addition, her left lower leg was broken from the impact of hitting the ground.

The two siblings were in one of the rooms of the medical bay, Braedey checking over Alice with Claire, and she gave a gentle shake of her head to the brunette, and he sighed to himself. He turned to Alex, and looked to him.

"How is she?" Alex asked in concern.

"Bad news, I'm afraid." Braedey replied reluctantly to the brother. "She's suffered a concussion when she hit her head against the Conn-Pod, and in addition, she's got a broken left lower leg." He took a deep breath and sighed. "I'm afraid she's in no condition for combat. Even if she could wake up and be ready for combat, she can't pilot a Jaeger."

Alex sighed sadly, and looked at his feet. Braedey really didn't want to bring the bad news to Alex, but he needed to know what happened. Before the brother of Alice could ask, the door to the room opened, and someone entered the room.

"I came as soon as I got the call." Alex was rather surprised to see who it was at the door, but showed a small smile on his face. "Sorry. Traffic getting out of the city was a nightmare."

The person is a 22 year old female, standing at 5ft 5" tall, with white flowing hair reaching down to her shoulders with curls rolling inwards at the ends, while having fair skin, and a set of beautiful aqua blue eyes. She has a slender body shape and form, with an average size bust, and slightly wide hips. She is currently wearing a black jacket with the symbol of a crescent moon with an arrow going through it, a pair of blue jeans with purple, red, and blue stripes, and sneakers. This woman is Lucy Green, girlfriend of Alex, and a best friend to most of the Jaeger pilots.

"Thank you for coming, Lucy." Braedey shook hands with Lucy, then Claire shook hands with the white-hair woman. "I know this is unexpected for you to come here-"

"It's okay, Braedey." Lucy reassured him. "It's not bad to come around to the Shatterdome once in a while." She then noticed the unconscious girl on her bed. "Poor Alice." She sighed a little, walking over to the Jaeger Pilot, placing a bouquet of flowers next to the bed.

"Claire, let's leave the two be for a bit." Braedey whispered to Claire, and the two left the room to give the three friends some space.

At the same time, down in the Jaeger bays, people were clearing their way as Phantom Reaper began to walk up into the base. The Jaeger came to a gentle stop, then backed itself up into one of the empty bays, and shuts down. In addition, another Jaeger was making it's way in, albeit moving its arms around the large structure and scaffolding, and parked itself into another empty Jaeger bay.

This new Jaeger, a state-of-the-art Mark-6, looks to be standing at 328ft (100m) tall, being 150ft (45.7m) wide from across the shoulders, while weighing in at 7,500 tonnes. This Jaeger has a heavily armoured body stature and shape, having a huge broad chest and thick shoulders, the arms and legs looking like that of beefy muscles, while the hands were large enough to crush Airbus A380s in them. The body's paint scheme is that of orange and green. The Jaeger also seems to have its Conn-Pod built in and on the top of the chest, making it have no neck. The Operations System built into the mech is the Orbiter Alpha-Conn, while the Energy Core is a JCR Megacell Core, like an Arc Reactor. The weaponry onboard this machine are red/green plasma energy lasers built into the palms of the hands, a tomahawk axe-like weapon from its left wrist as a melee weapon, along with creating an energy shield from the right arm to deflect against incoming physical attacks.
