Somebody You Can Trust

The unfortunate truth was that many of the guys in class 1-A had found Deku's female version to be extremely cute; his usual characteristic of mumbling to himself no longer seemed annoying, but rather endearing, and with his bright green eyes accentuated by a more feminine face, coupled with his natural innocence, it was a dangerous concoction to make any guy's heart flutter. Mineta, it seemed, had no shame in tailing behind Kirishima and Deku when lunch arrived, attempting to snap an up-skirt picture of Deku on his phone; he was quickly caught and reprimanded by Tsuyu, who took his phone and snapped it in half, throwing the grape headed pervert himself into the nearest trash can. Tsuyu went along her usual routine afterward, going to join her friends for lunch.

"Kirishima, do you think that it was okay to have Kacchan leave like that?" Deku asked as they got their lunches. "I mean, it was pretty scary going through that, but Kacchan looked really upset. He said he was sorry.....Kacchan never says sorry for anything."

"I know you care a lot about Bakugou, but he'll be fine." Kirishima replied. "If I'm speaking honestly, I'm actually glad that he's managed to apologize to you for once in both your lives, even if it was over having done something morally and physically wrong. He's owed you apologies for so many things in the past, it's really about time he has apologized regardless. Deku, you're a good person, you don't deserve to let Bakugou put you down."

Deku sighed as they sat down at a table, dreading what he had started to know as the uncomfortable feeling of the backs of his legs sticking to his seat after getting up. Honestly, it was another thing he simply didn't understand how girls dealt with, he may have to sit down with one of the girls and ask them what major problems they usually have to deal with and instructions on how to deal with them.

"I don't let Kacchan put me down..." he said quietly. "I know it doesn't seem that way on the surface, but when Kacchan yells at me and says all those mean things, it's really only giving me feedback on my own improvement as a hero. Maybe it's actually a little mean on my part, but the more angry Kacchan gets at me, I notice it is because I have made improvement, and it puts pressure on him to work harder to keep up. Kacchan might act like he's laid back most of the time, but in reality, he just wants to be the best, and whenever I start doing better, he feels threatened by it in a sense- kind of an alpha response if you will."

Kirishima nodded in understanding and smiled.

"Still, he shouldn't be getting upset at you for doing better, he should be learning from you and respecting you for making such improvements." Kirishima replied softly. "I'm probably the only person Bakugou might inadvertently consider a friend, but I know that he has a nasty attitude, and as much as I'd like to see that change, it most likely won't. If it really doesn't bother you, then I won't butt into it, but you can always tell me if Bakugou starts getting too tough on you, okay?"

Kirishima reached over and took Deku's hand, squeezing it lightly and giving a warm smile; a kind and reassuring gesture. He almost felt like a big brother with how small Deku's hand was at the moment, so thin and delicate, something to be treated with care.

"You can always confide in me, Deku..." he continued. "I know we don't really hang out or talk personally much, but I'd like to change that. I'm more than happy to lend an ear if you ever want to talk- it doesn't have to be over problematic things either! We can talk about anything you want; I'm never going to judge you, and I'll be happy to help you out however I can, no matter what it is. That's what friends are for, right? I'm not sure how many people you're close to like that, but I want to be someone you can rely on, somebody you can trust."

Deku listened to the other speak, feeling flattered by how open and honest Kirishima was; it was no wonder Bakugou could consider Kirishima a friend, the guy was very devoted to being a good friend, and he seemed to have the type of sensitivity that most guys were afraid of showing, but it suited him well and Deku liked that about him. Deku smiled and nodded, giving Kirishima's hand a soft squeeze in return.
