The Black Pearl docked out of Tortuga late afternoon, freshly stacked with cargo, rum and gunpowder.

"Keep to the shallows as much as possible!" Jack ordered his helmsman, Cotton.

Jack's left hand twitched. It has been doing that since last night, when he offered for Elizabeth to sleep on his bed.

Now, he had to save his own skin from being eaten by the kraken. He figured out a way to get himself out of his debt. A way which required a key, chest and a heart.

'I have successfully convinced William to get the key to Dead Man's chest for me. But first, I have to know where he can get it. I'm risking me life right now, sailing in open water. However, this is the only way to ensure beastie doesn't come after me. My plan is exactly this: Have Will get the key, and try to figure out how to have me compass work to find the location of Davy Jones' chest.' Jack thought to himself.

'After I find the chest and unlock it using as said key, I will use Davy Jones' heart as leverage to command him to call his beastie off the hunt for me. Sounds like a good plan.' he mentally smiled at his own cleverness and looked on deck to oversee the tasks the crew is doing.

It's been a week since Tortuga. Jack had said something about traveling up river to see an old friend of his. Elizabeth usually spent the ride talking to Gibbs or spending time with Will. When Will wasn't looking, she would look at Jack for some time.

She would get distracted by the most normal things that Jack was doing: gripping the spokes of the helm, biting his lips in frustration, adjusting his rings, and she always watched his lips move when he talked to Gibbs.

She looked up at Jack's figure next to the helm. She tried to convince herself that he is nothing special to her, merely a good friend.

Elizabeth decided that she had to clear things up with Will, and find out what the letters of marque he was holding before ment.

"Elizabeth, you've been looking at Jack for half an hour." She felt herself jump and found Will walking up to her and leaning against the railing of the Pearl, next to her.

Was it really that long? "I was just thinking, that's all."

"Will, what are those letters of marque Beckett gave you?" Elizabeth asked her fiance.

She noticed that he was pulling out the letters out of his coat pocket and spoke to her. "We are wanted for helping Jack and that means we are charged with piracy. If I get Jack's compass, then Beckett will grant him a job in the East India Trading Company."

She remembered what Jack told her about working for Beckett, and that he was once a captain for the company. The man who branded him a pirate, and whenever someone sees that "P" on Jack's arm, then it's straight to the gallows.

"I don't think Jack would think employment is the same as freedom." Elizabeth sighed, "We don't even know what that man will do to Jack if he accepts the offer."

"Trust me, if we get his compass then we won't be hanged. It's for our saftey," he handed Elizabeth the letters to look at and she opened them, looking through what is written. She noticed something about it and looked up at Will. "They are signed..."

Will smirked "I have my ways of convincing others-" he was cut off by Elizabeth's lips pressed against his. "I'm sure once this is done, we will go back to Port Royal and get married." Elizabeth said once they broke apart. She ignored whatever she felt for Jack, or still feels. Once she's married with Will, Jack is going to be pushed aside in her past and hopefully she will stop thinking of him.
