~×~
After about half an hour of waiting for Will to return to the Black Pearl with Davy Jones' key, Elizabeth sat down on the steps that led up to the helm.
Jack was standing next to Gibbs looking out of his spyglass at the commotion going on the Flying Dutchman, when suddenly a tall figure appeared infront of Jack. He lowered his spyglass down and looked at the figure infront of him.
It was a man with no nose, tentacles, a crab claw and leg. His clothes were filled with barnacles. Davy Jones.
"Oh..." Jack said looking around as Jones' crew appeared on the deck of the Black Pearl. Elizabeth and much of Jack's crew panicked as Davy Jones' crew held them at sword point.
Jones looked at Jack angrily. "Ye have a debt to pay! You've been captain of the Black Pearl for 13 years! That was our agreement!" He said while stepping towards Jack, who was stepping back to avoid the tentacles of his face.
"Technically, I was only Captain for two years, then I was viciously mutinied upon." Jack corrected, thinking that the thirteen years didn't count.
Jones' anger got the best of him and quickly spoke after Jack. "Then ye were a poor captain, but a captain nonetheless. Have ye not introduced yourself all these years as 'Captain Jack Sparrow'?" Jones circled around Jack and looked towards his crew and Elizabeth, noticing that there is a woman aboard.
The captain of the Black Pearl grimaced as Jones' crew started to laugh at that statement.
"You have my payment - one soul to serve on your ship. He's already over there." Elizabeth looked at Jack shocked and narrowed her eyes at him as he added that statement, still desperately trying to get out of the deal.
Jones looked at Jack with a hard stare. "One soul is equal to another."
Jack's mood lightened up and pointed his finger up. "Aha! We've established my proposal is sound in principle. Now we're just haggling over a price," he said quickly before anyone could interrupt him.
"Price?" Jones mused, not knowing what price to give. Jack noticed the struggling crew to get out of the fish crew's grip, hoping Jack will do something fast and reasonable.
Elizabeth was standing tensed as a crewman had a slimy sword to her throat. The smell on deck was worse than the streets of England. Fish guts spilling on the deck.
"Just how many souls do you think my soul is worth?" Jack asked, smirking as Jones looked around at his crew giving them a clue that he has an idea. "100 souls. 3 days," he replied coldly.
Jack smiled in approval. It can't be that hard to trick 100 people into Davy Jones' crew, right? "You're a diamond, mate! Send me back the boy, I'll get started right off." Elizabeth sighed relived that Will was coming back and Jack turned around to make his way to the rail until a Hammerhead creature stopped him.
"I keep the boy - a good-faith payment. That leaves ye only 99 more to go." Davy laughed and Jack slowly turned around to face the squid monster. The mischievous glint in Jack's eyes made the closest spectators to look suspiciously at the scene before them.
He slowly walked up to Jones in a nonchalantly way. "Have you not met Will Turner? He's noble, heroic, a terrific soprano. Worth at least four...maybe three and a half. And did I happen to mention... he's in love? With a girl." Jack flickered his gaze to Elizabeth and she looked at him suspiciously.
"Due to be married," Jack continued. "Betrothed. Dividing him from her want her from him would only be half as cruel as actually allowing them to be joined in holy matrimony, eh?"
Elizabeth tried to shake away from the creature that was holding the sword at her neck, to protest. How would it be cruel to get married? What was Jack actually trying to say. Of course Elizabeth loves Will, but there is just something missing...
Her attention was caught when Jones snorted. "I keep the boy. 99 souls."
Jack's smirk faded and Jones turned around to face him. "But I wonder, Sparrow, can ye live with this? Can ye condemn an innocent man, a friend, to a lifetime of servitude in yer name while ye roam free?"
Elizabeth opened her mouth to protest but Jack spoke up first. "Yep, I'm good with it."
"You bast-" Elizabeth's exclaimed until her words were muffled up with a discusting slimy hand covering her mouth.
Jack ignored her and continued. "Shall we seal it in blood - I mean...ink?" He said nervously.
He gasped as Jones looked at him in the eyes and squeezed his left, ring adorned hand where the Black Spot is.
"Three days." Jones repeated and tugged on Jack's hand and turned around to leave the ship. Davy Jones' crew cackled and let go of Jack's crew as Pintel whimpered in fright.
Davy Jones and his crew left the Black Pearl and Jack looked at his hand discusted by the slime left behind by Jones. The Black Spot faded away and he gazed out at the dark sea in a daze. "Uh, Mr. Gibbs..."
"Aye," Gibbs walked to Jack's side. Elizabeth wiped her mouth off that had some slime on it, in the meantime.
"I...feel sullied and unusual." Jack said, swaying while holding up his slimy hand.
Gibbs looked at Jack's hand discusted. "And how do you intend to harvest these 99 souls in three days?"
The tanned captain's mind started to work in a very smart ass way. "Fortunately, he was mum as to the condition in which these souls need be." Jack smirked. He was right, Jones didn't specify what the souls, or people, had to be like. Sick or healthy, clean or dirty.
"Ah, Tortuga." Gibbs said thoughtfully, catching on to what Jack was saying with a little smirk of his own. That smirk on Gibbs just went away into a grimace as Jack wiped the slime off his hand on Gibbs' coat.
Jack nodded, still looking into empty space as if he is in a daze. "Tortuga."
Gibbs nodded and frowned at the substance that was bow on his coat. "All hands to sails!" Gibbs called out and the crew hurried around the ship, despite what just happened.
Once Elizabeth finished, somewhat cleaning off, she hurried towards Jack and slapped his cheek. "How could you!"
Jack didn't even flinch from the hit, like he was expecting it. "The only way to save everyone here is to sacrifice another soul...along with some others. Unless, you want me to die."
"At least someone else than Will could of went to get the key! You tricked him!"
"Ms. Swann, are you aware that I tried to get him back?" Jack said coldly. She looked at his into his eyes, but noticed that those dark orbits made her have a lump in her throat.
She nodded and gulped.
"I'm going to get some rest, considering what just happened." Was all she managed to say.
Jack's expression softened up and his eyes looked into hers in such a way that made her question things.
"Maybe you should," he said quietly and turned away, making his way up to the helm.
What type of spell does this pirate have on him? Not all pirates are this handsome. Maybe rest will help...
She touched her burning cheeks and calmed herself down. Elizabeth made her way below deck into a little cabin designed for the first mate, which Jack informed that Gibbs doesn't use it and usually stores some of his treasures.
Closing the door behind her, Elizabeth noted the slimy fish that was still in her clothes. "Oh," she sighed in disgust and took her shirt off, throwing it on a chair. She wet the shirt to clean it and let it dry.
Elizabeth locked the door. Laying down on her bunk, she wrapped the sheets around her body. Maybe when she wakes up, everything will be better.
But Will is still on that ship...maybe she thought of things wrong? All these questions, surely sleep can help.
Slowly, her eyelids felt heavy and everything went dark.
