Chapter 2

You might be wondering why did I say oh my god?Well here’s the answer.My dad is my teacher.And I know what you’re thinking.That’s not so bad.Well when it comes to leaving me,it is bad.I just sat there pretending I don’t know him.

“Welcome everyone,today it seems we have a new student.Hailey Matthews.Hailey would you like to introduce yourself?” My dad said.

“Sure” I said in a sarcastic and shyish voice.”Hi,I’m Hailey Matthews.Umm let’s see.I live with my grandma,and uh I have a sister.”

“Let me ask you something.Why do you live with your grandma?”My dad asked.I knew he’d ask something stupid.
“Well,because my parents never gave me attention and only gave my sister attention.So,I guess my grandma was the only one who gave me attention.”

“Hmm interesting story.Questions anyone?Riley?”

“Who’s your sister?”She said in a smiling/wondering face.

“Okay well let’s get to work!So,our assignment today is about our world.And how we live in it.So, you will create a poster or presentation about your world.You may begin.Hailey may I speak to you for a moment?”

“Sure.” Here it comes.The greatest time of my life.By the way that was sarcasm.”What?”

“Why are you in my classroom?”

“Why can’t I be?”

“Because you don’t deserve the respect that I give the others.”

“Wow.That surprises me.”

“What surprises you?”

“That a father who’s so nice to his youngest daughter thinks he can treat his older daughter like a piece of trash.That’s honestly sad and pathetic.”

“Well,I aready met my world.Now,you should meet yours.”

“I already met my world too.But this one doesn’t have you in it.”I started walked away.

“Hailey!Get back here!”

“I’m not going to listen to you anymore.I’m done.”I then walked away.I don’t care what he does to me.I’m tired of this.He can just never apologize.He’s always gotta say it’s still his world.I’m old enough to make it my own world.I don’t need him following it.Then the bell rang and it was time for lunch.I sat down and started eating.
“Hey”I looked to see who it was.It was Riley.
“Hey.”I said back quietly.

“So,what was my father talking to you about?”

“Your father?Are you,Riley?”

“Yes I am!Nice to meet you!”

“You too.”I shook her hand.She seems like a nice sister.I guess she has a reason to have a little more attention than me.

“So,I meant to ask you,what’s your sister’s name?”

“Umm.”

“Shy?I feel ya.Well I’ll tell you something.I have a sister.But she left home.I really miss her.So does mom and dad.”They miss me?Yeah right!”But I wish I could meet her she seems really nice.”

“Well,I guess all I can tell you is you’ll find her.You never know,she might be in front of you.”

“Hopefully.” Okay,now I feel a little bad.I’m happy I have someone who cares about me.Might be a little too energetic but I can work that out.

“Hey Hailey.” Maya said then came and sat down by me. “Who’s this?”

“Hi I’m Riley nice to meet you!”

“Riley?Will you excuse us for a moment?” Maya then pulled me aside. “Is that Riley?Like your SISTER Riley?”

“Yes.But don’t be mean.She’s actually nice.She said she misses her ‘sister’ which is me”

“Wow.That’s actually a really nice sister.”

“Yeah I wish I could tell her the truth.”

“Do it”

“But when?”

“I got this.Hey Riley,do you wanna eat with us tonight?” Maya asked.

“Sure!What time?”Riley said.

“What about 8?”

“That’ll work!See ya tonight!” She then skipped away.

“There ya go!”

“Thanks Maya.”I said in a calm voice.I was a little shaky,but I got this.

“Anytime.You should get ready for tonight.See you at 8”Maya said.

“See ya!”

I went home and changed and did my hair.I honestly am not ready for this,but I have to tell the truth.Riley can’t live her life with this kind of lie.She’s a sweet,innocent girl.She deserves better.I can see why she gets the most attention.But still,I was just like her.I always wanted to do the right thing.But they never were proud of me.So I didn’t try.I used to be a straight A student.But then I started failing.My dad was a little disappointed.My mom,not so much.My grandma helped me succeed though.She brought me back to straight A’s.But when my dad told me that he met his world and I need to meet mine.I was upset.I did meet my world.And it has nothing to do with my parents.It’s a world where I never get judged.I get attention.Where nothing bad would happen to me.I then went into the car and drove to the restaraunt.

“Hey Hailey!”Riley said.

“Hey Riley!Hey Maya!”I said.

“Hey!”Maya said.We then sat down.

“I’ll be right back I need to go to the bathroom.”Riley said.

“Okay”She then walked away.

“So.When are you going to tell her?”Maya asked.

“I don’t know.I don’t want to do this.”

“Why?She has to find out sometime.”

“I know,but if she tells my parents,I could get into big trouble.”

“You’ll be fine”

“Promise?”

“Promise.”I then gave her a hug.Riley came back.We all decided to order a pizza and some breadsticks.As soon as we finished eating,we walked to my car.

“So,sorry to ask.But who is your sister?I’ve been so curious.” Riley asked.

“Just tell her” Maya whispered.I sighed.

“Umm,Riley.Remember when you said your sister went missing.”

“Yeah?”

“And I said you never know.She could be right in front of you.”

“Yeah why?”

“Well,the story you said is true.”

“How would you know?”

“Because,I-I’m the one who was missing.”

“W-what?” Here it comes.

“I’m the one who went missing.Riley,I am your sister.”
