Chapter 3

Today,my life and Riley’s life changed.I had to tell her the truth.She had a shocked look on her face.

“What?” Riley said

“I am your sister”

“B-but why did you-”

“It was a stupid reason.I’m sorry.I felt like I never got attention so,I moved in with grandma.”

“You?You’re my sister?But why would dad have an upset look on his face?”

“I don’t think he’s too excited for me to come home”

“Well,I am.I can’t believe it.I’m standing right in front of my sister!!!!”She then screamed and gave me a hug.I could tell she was happy to see me.I looked over at Maya,she gave me a smile and a wink.I gave her one back.I then went home and got ready for bed.I might’ve not met my world completely yet,but I know she’s in it.

The next morning…

I woke up and got ready for school.For the first time,I’m actually ready for school now that I have Riley by my side.I went to social studies which is the class I’m afraid of.What if Riley told dad?

“Okay so today we will be showing our presentations.First up,Hailey.”

“Umm I’m not finished yet”

“Too bad,show what you know.”

“Okay then.Well in my world,I have an amazing sister.One who cares and loves me.I also have a grandma who cares and loves me too.But sadly in this world,I have parents who are the total opposites.Pathetic,rude,and careless.” I looked at everyones faces.Maya had an “oh no” face because she knew something would happen.Riley had a surprised face same with the others.And finally,my dad had a disappointed face.

“Now, let me ask you something, Hailey.Why are you saying to this about your parents?”

“I don’t know.Why don’t you ask yourself.Why am I being like this to my parents huh?Dad?” Everyone looked and me and my dad.Confused thinking “they’re related?”

“I don’t know Hailey.But let me ask you something.”

“What why did I leave?”

“No.My question is.Why did I grow up to have a daughter like you?” Everyone gasped.Including Riley.

“Dad,w-what did you say?”

“I said.Why did I grow up to have a daughter like you?”

“Wow.J-just wow. Here’s another question. Why did I even come into your world in the first place? Why was I born with a father like you?W-why can’t you just be a nice father for once?” I started crying and ran out.

“Hailey!Get back here!” I ran to the bathroom and started crying.I couldn’t take this anymore.My dad will just never accept the fact that this is his fault.

“Hailey you okay?” I looked to see who it was.It was Maya.

“No.My father will never accept me for who I am.Everything’s my fault.”

“That’s not true.You can’t listen to him.Listen to your heart and what you believe.Not what he believes.”

“I-I just want a nice father for once.”I started crying again and gave Maya a hug.

“It’s okay,I’m here for you.”

“Thanks Maya.”

“Come on.Let’s go get lunch.” We went and got our lunches and sat down.Then of course my dad saw me and pulled me aside.

“You do not leave the classroom like that!” he said.

“Why should I listen to you?”

“Because I am your father!And you’re still in my world!”

“You know,you say you’re in my world still.But really in my world,you’re not my father.You’re just a rude person who doesn’t care about me.You’re ignorant,careless,and never think about others.This is my world.I don’t see why you have to be in it.”

I then walked away.The bell was getting ready to ring to go home. RRRRRIIIIINNNNNGGGGG!!! I went to go look for Maya to walk home with.

“So what was your dad saying?”

“That I’m still in his world.”

“Didn’t he say that like 50 times?”

“Pretty much.”

“What did you say?”

“I said in my world,he’s not a father,he’s just a jerk.He never thinks about others.I don’t see why he has to be in my world.”

“Oh,well I should take you home.You sound really upset.”

“You sure?”

“Yes.Let’s go”

“Okay.” We then walked by my parents house. “Wait Maya.I wanna see what they’re doing.” So me and Maya were sorta eavesdropping on their conversation.

“She told you that today?” Mom said.

“Yes.” Dad said.

“But why?”

“She thinks in her world,I’m just a jerk.”

“But your not.”

“I told her I’m still in her world.I just want her to come back. I never meant to let her go.”

Oh my gosh.Is that the truth?They really do miss me?

“I know sweetie.But,let’s face it.She’ll never come back.She thinks we give Riley more attention.”

“I know.And we don’t.We give them the same amount of attention.I just want her to realise if it feels like we give Riley more attention,it’s only because we know we can trust Hailey.”

“True.We need her to come back.”

“Give her sometime. I’ll try to talk to her at school. If not,at mom’s house” They then saw me and I hid really quick and started running.Is that all true?Do they really care?How should I trust them anyways?My dad hurt me to the point where I can’t trust him anymore.Where anything he says is a lie to me.I decided to get that out of my mind and go home.I went and took a shower and did my homework.I then went to bed.Maybe my day will go better tomorrow.
