This couldn't be happening.
This couldn't be happening.
This couldn't be fucking happening.
Though, there it was.
The ring was there in David's hand, as if were it some sort of magic trick pulled off by the pair of them. You could have given David a tall hat and a rabbit and he'd been a professional magician.
As my heart dropped into my stomach, I desperately tried to mutter my next words. But what could I say? Nothing, not even my cry of innocence would help this situation.
No one would believe me. The proof was right there, just dangling from his hand!
Of course the item didn't belong to me, heck, I hadn't even seen seen the damn thing before in my entire life.
"There has to be a mistake," I gushed quickly. "I didn't take that, I swear!"
I felt a firm hand press against my back, a hand that suddenly didn't feel very warm anymore. I looked up at Lucas, trying to read that stoic face of his but it was just like a puzzle. I could see his jaw click and his eyes narrow coldly, as if I were seeing a different side of him.
If it weren't obvious I didn't like it.
He was angry, just to someone who probably wasn't paying too much attention wouldn't notice.
"E-even ask Em, he was with me the whole time! I didn't take it Lucas, you have to believe me. Henry is setting me up!"
I felt his hand press harder against my spine, making me instantly stifle my words.
Shit.
"Not only do you lie and steal but you also address your Master as such!?" David scowled. "If you would allow me to teach him some manners—!"
David stepped forward in a threatening way—one that had me taking a step back in caution. I didn't know about anyone else but the look David was enough to melt. Lucas, with eyes like stone, simply pressed a flat hand against David's chest.
"Think twice before doing something we will both regret." Lucas' voice was dripping with emotion, and if it hadn't been for his cool and collected demeanor I would have thought he would draw fists right then and there. It was a look that I had never seen before.
"Lucas! You still defend him?!"
Lucas narrowed his eyes, those venomous eyes.
"David, you are my friend, do not make me think of you otherwise." David and Lucas stood still, the air tense and suffocating. "I was watching Benji the whole time, and I did not see him take anything from Henry. I'm also sure Emery and Jeremiah can confirm this."
"Oh come on, Lucas! You weren't watching him the whole time. You should be careful who you take off the street, this one seems to be a piece of work!"
"David," he said coldly, it made me shiver, "I do not need you telling me who I take as my submissive. Clearly he's not perfect, but he would never steal anything from anyone."
"How do you explain how it got into his bag then?" David asked, turning to me once more but I didn't dare speak. I knew Lucas was already super mad at me and all I'd be doing would be adding fuel to the fire.
"I think you should ask your submissive, David."
"What? You expect me to believe that Henry did this?" he asked. "Henry is one of the most obedient submissives I have ever signed a contract with."
"As did I, of course that was before I found out he ruined my previous relationships with my other contracts." I stiffened at his words, glancing at Henry to see his reactions through all this.
