Never would I see the day where twelve people could fit around a family dining table the size of twin bed but it was somehow accomplished. A toddler was screaming, food was being passed around like these people hadn't eaten in days, Lucas was bickering with his siblings — and I wouldn't have it any other way.
It felt...wholesome.
The cheery atmosphere put me at place easily and the home cooked food could have been served in a five star restaurant. No wonder everyone was so hectic to get as much as they could.
Just seeing Lucas bicker with his siblings made me realize there was a whole other side to him that I had not been introduced to yet. I wanted to feel like I belonged within a family that shared no identical background to mine.
My dominant was usually calm and collected but with his siblings nearby it was like I could see what was beneath his usual demeanor. It made me feel closer to him, silly as that was.
Even within this contract I still knew very little about Lucas, and he didn't know about me either. Although, it was starting to feel much more than a contract, and I knew that within the guidelines of said contract that it was going to end eventually. I didn't want that. My feelings were clear and I knew what I wanted.
My eyes met Lucas' and they were as warm as ever, twinkling like two little stars in the night. I couldn't help but reflect the warmth and smile as our hands enclosed together just underneath the table.
I knew there was nothing in the contract about love, but I knew what this feeling was.
I loved Lucas.
My eyes drifted to those luscious lips, just waiting for something to press deeply against them in a tight embrace. Something as in my lips, but of course this was not the time for anything sexual. Especially with his family sitting around the table.
By the time everyone finished dinner I was practically beaming with overwhelming thoughts. I was more than happy to be sitting here next to such a gorgeous man who cared enough for me to bring me to such a private event.
After dinner we moved into the living room - all gathered around the tree with soft Christmas music playing from the TV. Presents were opened, laughs and idle conversation was shared, and I was more than happy to be a part of it.
I wasn't expecting anything but I was given a present myself, and with careful hands I revealed a rather cool looking watch. Not just any watch either, and by the looks of it I could tell it was a very pricy accessory.
"We weren't sure what to get you but Lucas suggested this." Mia said, reflecting my happy smile with one of her own.
"Now you don't have an excuse to be late." Lucas whispered, chuckling when I blushed deep crimson.
Even with this new watch, I wasn't sure it would change much. It wasn't that I lost track of time but simply forgot things easily and wasn't the best at using my time wisely. Though I was still grateful for the thought, and more than excited for a new accessory to wear will all my new clothes.
"Thank you, I love it!" I beamed, latching the watch tight around my wrist.
Even if I wasn't aware of the Christmas party I still felt guilty about having nothing to give to them. Though Lucas already thought ahead and put both our names of the gifts he brought. Again, I didn't have a lot of money and I wasn't sure I could afford everyone an individual present considering how many siblings Lucas had so after all I was thankful I had someone like Lucas to have everything thought out.
It took quite some time to get through all the presents but I was more than fine staying as late as Lucas wanted. Having the company, especially around Christmas made me realize just how amazing it was to have people to spend it with.
