The last four days had been hell.

Severus had woken four days ago with a fever and ghostly skin. Three days ago Helena thought she had lost him when he had fallen into a poison ridden coma. Two days ago his heart had missed a couple of beats and Helena almost fell apart. Finally, yesterday had almost driven her insane when she thought she had ruined the potion.

Minerva had been incredible however and had spent long days sitting by Severus' bedside while also making sure Helena did not starve herself while she worked on the potion.

Harry Potter had even come to visit. He had asked if he could just sit beside Severus and speak to him for he had heard coma patients could hear people talking to them. He was then kind enough to come and clean the lab while Helena worked and he shared with her the story of how Severus had spent years under cover to protect him and the Wizarding World.

Of a night Helena would curl up in a chair beside Severus and read to him A Farewell To Arms written by Ernest Hemingway, Minerva had told her it was one of his favourites.

Then she would sleep uncomfortably in the chair for a couple of hours before her routine morning checks on the poison's spread.

These thoughts played on Helena's mind as she showered that morning before eating yet another quick breakfast, dressing and rushing to the lab.

Today was different though, today Helena would administer the potion to Severus and save his life.

Helena couldn't imagine her life without that wizard, in the four weeks she had been at Hogwarts, he had become central to her life and she loved him more than anything.

Helena knew that one day she hoped to start a family with him, she hoped he would want that too.

For now though, she just wanted him to be healthy and free.

"Here it is Miss Stephens!" A voice broke Helena's thoughts and she turned as Harry's best friend, Hermione Granger rushed into the lab. In her hands, Hermione carried a fresh white rose which was the last ingredient.

Harry had told Helena how skilled Hermione had been at Potion making and so she had asked for her assistance in finalising the potion.

"Thank you Miss Granger. Now, could you please continue to stir the potion while I prepare the rose?" Helena asked her.

The young witch nodded eagerly and took over for her while she moved to cut the rose into perfectly small pieces.

"Alright Miss Granger, now you need to start stirring it the other way while I add the rose," Helena said.

Helena moved over to the cauldron and slowly added pinches of the cut up rose as Hermione stirred the potion in an anti-clockwise direction.

The potion started to become a beautiful snowy white and Helena smiled happily, it was perfect.

Hermione continued to stir as Helena fetched a glass to pour the potion into before taking it to Severus who was still deep in his coma.

Once the glass was full Helena thanked Hermione and sent her up to Minerva's office where Minerva waited with Harry for news regarding Severus.

Helena walked carefully to Severus' chambers to prevent any potion spilling from the glass and onto the floor.

The white liquid sparkled slightly and her heart beat quickly in anticipation. Her hands were getting sweaty as she clasped the glass desperately as she entered Severus' chambers and moved to his bedroom.

There he was, his chest barely moving, his eyes firmly shut and his skin like ice.

"You're potion is ready my love, it's time for you to get better so that we can properly begin our life together," Helena said calmly as she moved to sit beside him on the bed.

Helena parted Severus' lips slightly and softly kissed them before placing the glass to his lips and tipping it forwards. She massaged Severus' throat to prevent him from choking and once the glass was empty she set it on the bedside table and waited.

Minutes seemed to tick by and nothing happened until something did.

Helena clasped one of Severus' hands in her's and let out a happy sob as his chest rose properly and his eyes flickered opened.

Helena smiled at Severus and nodded, "It worked. You are poison free at last my love."
