the weeknd
When I woke up, I thought it would just be a regular Saturday, you know; I got out of bed, did my every day morning ritual, had coffee, did some chores around the house, worked on my book and in the evening a friend called, asking if I want to join them; they were going to this new club called Phoenix. It's supposed to be really hot and all that.
Later on I remembered why I always hesitate going when they invite me; I have nothing to wear. Plus, I'm not much of a club hopper; all that loud music and drunk people spilling drinks everywhere, it's just not my cup of tea. But I promised I'd go this time because it's my friend Angela's birthday. My girlfriends always dress fancy, they're super fashionistas compared to me. I'm more of a jeans, shirt and sneakers kind of girl; I probably own one dress, the one I bought for my graduation ceremony.
I was raiding my closet for an hour, my bed was covered in clothes and shoes and I eventually gave up and threw myself in the pile of useless fabric. Letting out a loud sigh I checked my phone and saw a message from Angie. We're picking you up in 20.
Crap.I got up and quickly went through the clothes laying in front of me; I ended up picking a long fit black t-shirt I got the other day and some black tube knee high socks; I guess it kind of looks like a dress. I jumped into my black and white vans and just let my messy blonde hair fall down however it wants too. Yeah, it's really shitty of me how much I'd rather stay at home. Grabbing the smallest bag I own, I threw in my cell, mini wallet and cigarettes.
I rarely wear makeup and when I do, it's not a lot. Just some mascara and some regular lip balm. If I feel a bit more extra, I also apply some highlighter; which I did.Angie and the girls picked me up as planned and we went out.
The place was pretty crowded. She got us a table in one of the bigger vip booths which was okay because there's always a place to sit but I have a certain opinion about the people that usually hang in vip sections.
From my experience, they think they're better than everyone else, it's how they act and I find it incredibly immature and disgusting.
We took a seat, popped a bottle and clinked our glasses, toasting Angie's day of birth.
The girls got drunk pretty fast and I ended up being the sober one. Since they were all either sitting at the table or dancing, I decided to grab a drink and go to the back for a cigarette.I admit, I was bored. The music was fine but I had no one to dance with; I wanted to go down to the dance floor, mix with people and get lost. I love music but my friends always sit in booths until they get wasted and sloppy, they only dance around with weird people in our section, missing out on the real fun down in the crowd.
I was standing in the back, smoking a cigarette, slowly sipping on my vodka tonic and watching the glimmering lights around me. People find me weird most of the time but I don't really care. After a while they all went inside and I ended up alone. I set my drink down on one of the tables and lit another cigarette. I leaned my elbows on the table's edge, blowing out the smoke.
My gaze wandered from left to right until I noticed there was someone else standing in the corner. He kept looking at me while I quickly eyed him from top to bottom. He was a beautiful man, what can I tell you. Short thick black hair, perfect chocolaty skin and eyes with the ability to stare into your soul. He was wearing a plum purple shirt and a black baseball jacket over it. He had those black ripped jeans that I usually hate on guys but on him it didn't bother me at all. He was wearing all black nike airs and I admit, I could barely look away.
At first he was just quietly observing me and we kept staring at each other, both standing in the same spot, not moving. I put out my cigarette and finished my drink, looking away for like three seconds. When I looked back, he was already gone.
Holy shit, that was intense, I thought to myself.I joined the girls and downed my second vodka tonic before heading down to the dance floor. They were playing such good songs, I had to make my way into the crowd.
I was dancing by myself, getting lost in the music, then I noticed people around looking at me weird. I thought it was me until I saw they were looking at someone behind me.
I turned around; my eyes gazed upon the same guy that had a stare contest with me half an hour ago. The colorful lights hit his face as he stepped closer to me, our bodies touching. He looked even more beautiful up close, his face was absolutely flawless, at least in my opinion. But I think I spoke for all the ladies there, based on the looks they were giving us; him.
He just grinned at me, taking me by the hand, spun me around and pinned me to himself. I let go, continued slow dancing; then I turned back around, we were face to face. It was the same type of intensity as before, just stronger.
I looked into his eyes, wrapping my arms around his neck, his palms resting on my hips, occasionally sliding up and down.
We were in our own little bubble, there was so much chemistry between us, it was crazy. People made a little circle around us, dancing and staring. At least that's what my friends told me; I was only looking at him. When the song was over he pulled me by the hand and we went back outside.
"You're a really good dancer." I said, smiling at him. He returned the smile, showing his white teeth, I think I died a little.
"Thank you; and likewise. Sorry for not introducing myself earlier, you were mesmerizing." He chuckled. "I'm Abel."
I shook his hand."I'm Bianca, very nice to meet you."
"You too. Smoke?" He offered. I shook my head and smiled.
"Thank you, I have my own."
"So Bianca, where are your friends?" He asked, blowing out the smoke.
"At our table, wasted." I chuckled. "I like dancing you know, can't be bothered by sitting at some table in a club."
He chuckled as well.
"I agree.""Right?" I pointed out. "Clubbing isn't really my thing but tonight is alright."
"I knew it." He looked at me.
"What?"
"I haven't seen you around here; and I'd remember you for sure." He smiled. "So what is your thing?"
"Umm, I like playing my guitar, reading, binge watching tv shows?" I widely smiled.
"Relatable." He replied.
"So where are your friends tonight?" I asked.
"Probably trying to hook up with yours." He started laughing. "I as well prefer dancing to sitting and drinking, so yeah."
"You just like hitting on random girls, am I right?" I teased.
"You're funny." He chuckled again. "But you're far from random." He said and took a step closer after putting out the cigarette. He was a little taller than me; I lifted my gaze, looking into his eyes.
"See, I know you feel the exact same thing. I can tell." He slowly leaned closer. "You can't hide or stop it."He was right; it was magnetic, intense chemistry. I haven't felt that way before. I couldn't even control what I was saying.
"Well, you're right about that." I said, exhaling a breath of hot air. His hand slid up my arm, stopping on the side of my neck. He slowly pulled me closer and pressed our lips together.
For a few seconds I though my head was going to explode. It was so intense, all the heat ran straight to my head. I wrapped my arms around his neck, he pulled me even closer to him, eliminating all the tiny spaces between us. Then he pulled away and whispered in my ear."You wanna come..." Then a short pause, just so he could make me shiver. "To my place?"
It was a question he already knew an answer to.I innocently bit my lower lip and nodded.
"Take me."He was looking at me like he hasn't seen anyone like me before.
I loved it.
