As Koda and I traveled, the number of bustling animals began to dwindle. No sensible herd animal would travel anywhere near the very border of the land, it was too dangerous with the vicious Outlanders lurking around.

Once we finally reached the lake that some called "King's Lake", which lay at the very border of the bare Outlands and the lush Pridelands, we decided to take a break and relax around the shimmering waters as we waited for our friends.

As my cousin and I lay there in silence, thoughts of victories and defeats swirled around in my mind. I pondered what my father might do as a cub in this same situation and I wondered if Koda was doing the same. He was definitely thinking of something as his forest green eyes were intensely sweeping the surrounding lands, maybe in search of trouble.

It took longer than I would've liked, but eventually, two specks appeared amongst the fading grasses as they trotted silently towards the sparkling lake. As soon as they were in earshot, Koda stood to his feet and, with an earnest gaze, he asked, "Are you ready?"

I watched Tian nod firmly in response, and I couldn't help but smile as I noted the way his black bangs fell over his strong, intense eyes.

"What's the plan?" Umjia's soft but sturdy voice snapped me out of my dreamy thoughts.

Koda squared his shoulders and opened his mouth to speak, but a sudden voice interrupted him.

"Yeah, Koda, what's your plan?"

The four of us whirled around and my heart skipped a beat when my eyes landed on the real Lion Guard, with my father advancing front and center.

"U-uncle Kion!" Koda exclaimed.

"You kids are crazy coming out here without a plan and with no backup!" Ono cried, landing on Beste's back as they all went to gather around the kids.

"I have a plan!" Koda replied.

"I thought you were smarter than that, Koda," my father said, seeming disappointed.

"It was my idea!" I stepped forward, defending my cousin and leader.

"Kito, your starting to join Bunga on the border of brave and stupid," Fuli stated half-jokingly, sending the honey badger a look. Bunga just huffed.

"That's enough." my dad said.

"Are you going to make us go back home, sir?" Tian asked, his face twisted in a troubled manner.

My father sent a glance to the Lion Guard and frowned.

"No, Tian," he replied. "What you kids did was wrong and irresponsible, and under no circumstances should you ever do something crazy like this again, especially without asking me first. But we are all here to join you. I realize we need to catch the vandal and put an end to this and that's what we are here to do. And we need your help."

Koda lifted his eyes off the ground and glanced around at the other three kids, including me. We all gave him the same look.

"Okay, we're in," Koda said. "So do you have a plan?"

"I thought you did," Kion rose an eyebrow at the cub.

"Well, maybe yours' is better. . ."

My father just smiled at him and shook his head in amusement before saying, "Kids, this lioness travels in a group. She's sly, smart, and full of tricks so stay alert and watch your surroundings. Don't hurt anyone if you can help it and mainly just follow our lead. Got it?"

"Got it," Koda nodded, a little grin forming on his lips.

"Good, let me lead the way then,"

Sorry for the short chapter. It's not a filler but just necessary. More action in the next one <3
