"My name is Mrs Gardiner and I am your new English teacher," a slim women with blonde hair in a tight bun on top of her head stood at the front of the class. She wore a baby pink dress with white heels.

Nervously I chewed on my lip. This was my second class today and the first time I was in a subject mixed with people who were born a dragonrider. I was surprised to find out we will be in some of the same classes as the born dragonriders and was slightly on edge. What surprised me even more were the names of some of the subjects I found on my timetable.

I sat next to the window with Sarah beside me. Sam wasn't in the same class and I felt so sorry for her. Yesterday at lunch I had told Sarah and Sam about what Miss Frey had said. They had been incredibly sweet and promised not to tell anyone. I was truly thankful I had people to talk to.

Mrs Gardiner's stunning green eyes scanned the class as she smiled, "We can all start with an introduction to everyone. First boy on the right, please stand up."

The introductions began and I was only half listening. Everyone said their name, their favourite time of day, their favourite food and colour. None of it was really related to English but it helped make everyone seem the same.

I looked up as the person in front of me started talking and tried not to think about the fact that I was next.

"Chase, night, cheese and red," he sure knew how to keep things short. He looked at me with a huge grin as if he had done a favour for me, "Your turn."

Standing up I said, "Elizabeth Wright, the sunrise, I love pasta and blue is my favourite colour."

Sarah's voice was steady with confidence, "My name's Sarah Blackwood, I like the morning and I'm kind of obsessed with irn bru, my favourite colour is purple."

After the next person had begun she whispered over to me, "I'm not sure if irn bru counts as a food because it's a drink."

This made me smile, "She didn't say anything so I suppose it's fine. So irn bru is what you're obsessed with?"

"Yep, for me it's like coffee or tea," she said sheepishly, "My parents wonder if they should control how much I have but that didn't end well last time. I found out that irn bru was a necessity; a lifeline almost. I need it to function."

"I didn't think it would be irn bru. Wow. I feel the same about pasta," I replied with a grin. Food was very important to us it seemed.

I realised I hadn't noticed James was in this class, but as soon as I noticed I couldn't stop thinking about it.

"James is in this class?" I said with surprise.

"You have most definitely got a crush on him. There's no point of denying it."

"I just didn't realise someone else from our house was here," I reasoned with a calm voice.

"Hmm...just that?"

"Yep."

She didn't look convinced but let it drop. I knew I was awful at this and the truth was I may possibly have a tiny little crush on him.

When I looked back at James I frowned at who he was sitting by. It was one of the girls that had been flipping her hair at the spotlight boys in the hall. She's in Novar I think. She had silvery grey eyes with were complemented by her brown eye-shadow.

I listen as she stands up, "Vivienne Pitt, the evening, I love strawberries and the colour blue."

James stands up next, "James Hunter, sunset, Lindt Lindor and purple."

I stopped listening after that, my thoughts had drifted to the main hall yesterday. I frowned as I remembered Roubin had been glaring at me. I puzzled over why he did that but in the end couldn't find an answer. At least he wasn't in this class.
