I knocked on the door of the nurse's office and when I heard a come in from the other side I opened the door. Inside was November who was tidying up on the beds. Hamish was leaning against the wall beside her and it seems I must have interrupted their conversation.
"Sorry, I was hoping to talk to November if that's ok," I said looking at Hamish and then November.
November's joyful voice answered sweetly, "Of course it is, my dear. You don't need to be so formal."
"Well, I actually need to tell Hamish something as well," turning to Hamish I stated seriously, "I won't be doing anymore of the extra physical training classes from now on."
"Oh really? Why's that?" He asked with amusement.
I was unable to hold my serious face and a smile spread across my face, "I'm going to be elemental classes instead. I've finally found my element."
A faint smile shadowed his face before his usual emotionless expression set in, "At least now I don't have to listen to your extra whining."
November's reaction was the complete opposite to Hamish's as she gasped loudly before throwing her arms around me. Pulling back she said, "That's absolutely amazing! I'm so happy for you. What's your element?"
My smile grew as I replied, "Water, just like yours which is why I wanted to talk to you."
"A water elemental just like me! We can talk for as long as you like. Let's go for another walk outside shall we?"
After the walk we had been on after I fainted I had visited November to talk. For the past month we went on walks every so often and she also helped me with anything I was confused about. As much as Hamish has been my mentor for physical training, she has become a great friend for me as well as a mentor in my studies related to magic and dragons.
"That would be good. I could really use a walk right now actually," I nodded.
Hamish cut in, slightly annoyed, "What about me? Am I just going to be left alone here?"
November said with a wink at him, "I'm sure you can handle being by yourself for a little while, darling."
Hamish frowned at me before sending a warning, "If you keep stealing my wife away from me i'm going to start making physical training hell for you."
"More than it already is?" I questioned with a grin.
A cunning smile appeared on his face as he repeated, "More than it already is."
November looped her arm into mine before sending her own playful warning to Hamish, "If you do that then you can sleep on the couch, darling."
I couldn't help but laugh and soon Hamish joined in as well. It was amazing how November could change Hamish so much. When I had asked her how she could do that she had said that she doesn't change Hamish. She said that there's just sides to him that he doesn't show people but for her he lets all of his shields down which is why he always seems so relaxed around her.
I could understand what she means. Keeping up shields is what we all do and it's tiring to do so. So to have someone where you didn't need any shields to hide behind seemed like a special and beautiful thing to have. I hoped I could have someone like that someday but I had a feeling I'd have to wait for quite some time.
Smiling, November began to walk out of the nurse's office with me right beside her, with our arms linked and smiles across our faces.
Once we were outside in the gardens, November unlinked her arm and reached out towards the river to bring a ball of water into her hands. "It won't be long before you can do this yourself now," she said happily.
