That night, the two hunters acted as though nothing had happened. However, they were horrible actors.

The address had led them to a home, which looked none to out of the ordinary, and unlike the woman they had encountered, was closer to the center of town. They now sat parked inconspicuously right across from the house whose lights were lit up, as though it wasn't midnight. Sam sat rigidly up in his seat, eyes focused on the house and only the house, Gabriel doing the same except in a more slumped and relaxed position. They did not talk, nor did they look at each other, as though they feared even if their pupils glimpsed one another that horrible distance between them would close again, and Sam would not be able to pull away this time. That Gabriel could not resist that adorable speck of a mole or Sam couldn't tear away from Gabriel's scruffy beard. No, they would not risk it, and in a mental manner they both agreed on this.

The shadow of a man flickered in the house, and one by one all the lights turned off. For a moment, Sam was concerned he had read the address wrong. But then the front door opened and out came the figure, walking hurriedly to the car parked out in the driveway despite him owning a garage.

"Gabriel, that's him," Sam said, only to be greeted by loud snoring. He elbowed him sharp in the ribs and the archangel jolted awake. "Seriously, why do you sleep when you don't need to?"

"Beauty sleep, Sammy! Not all of us our blessed with natural beauty," Gabriel sighed enviously, then upon realizing how this sounded coupled with their earlier interaction, turned to look out the window to hide the blush on his cheeks, eyes focused on the car rumbling to life. It pulled out from the driveway and crept down the road. Sam started the Impala up and followed. It was difficult to be stealthy, while following the only other car on the road this late at night, but he tried his best, staying a good distance behind their suspect. "Why don't we have a cool siren or something? Let that fucker know we're after him!" Gabriel grinned, raising his hand to snap, interrupted just in time as Sam grabbed his hand and forced it down.

"We're trying to be stealthy here Gabriel. When we get to the place he's getting his goods, we'll formulate a plan and charge in there." Sam reasoned.

"Then can I make a siren?"

"I'll consider it," Sam smirked and the two looked at each other for what felt like the first time that night. The tail lights of the car bathed their faces in a startling red against the darkness within the car itself, and for a moment it seemed their kiss had been forgotten. It would have, had it not been for the fact that Sam's hand found itself still wrapped around Gabriel's. Had it not been for the red light one would be able to see the scarlet blooming in his cheeks as he unraveled their fingers and wrapped them back around the cold wheel. Gabriel pulled his own back into his lap and cleared his throat, glancing out the window of the passing countryside, and Sam refocused on their subject. There was a shifting in the car, but it wasn't in the drivers seat. No, in the backseat another figure moved, fidgeting with something. Sam furrowed his brows. Two people? Where did the second one come from?

Sam had no time to answer as the back window of the car shattered and a bullet tore its way through Sam's chest.

Sam slammed on the brake, one hand clutching his chest as he tried not to panic, as crashing the car would make things so much worse. More bullets whizzed by him but none made contact, burying themselves in the backseat of the Impala, before the car swerved around a corner. Sam looked down at his chest, blood pouring out, both hands now clutching the wound, his whole body rigid with terror. Gabriel was grabbing at his hands and he managed to relax them, shaking from shock, but as Gabriel's hands pressed against his chest a soothing feeling washed over him. Power flowed from the archangel and the blood ceased, the wound stitching itself together seamlessly. Then Gabriel snapped his finger and the two switched sides, Sam now in the passengers seat and Gabriel gripping the wheel so tight his knuckles turned white.
