Song of the Chapter: Unfaithful by Rihanna
Chapter 16
Carmen's POV
Last night after Brady and I talked, we exchanged numbers and ending up texting all night. It's now 3pm and I am standing in my closet trying to figure out what to wear. I end up choosing something girlier than what I usually wear; after all it is a date. It's a date right? I mean he asked me to go somewhere alone with him, so doesn't that mean it's a date? I haven't really done this whole dating thing before. I mean of course there was Tanner and I, but that was more of a friendship than a relationship. And of course Tristan had to be obnoxiously annoying as usual, and invite himself. I know he only did it to make sure I didn't enjoy it. Maybe he was jealous? HA, am I going crazy? I'm just going to ignore him and have a fun time out with Brady.
A few hours later, I hear the loud chime notifying me that someone was at the door. After checking myself in the mirror one more time and spraying some perfume, I grab my purse and make my way downstairs. I smile to myself as I descend down the stairs and see Brady's cherry red convertible through the window above the door. My smile is quickly wiped of my face as I see Tristan smirking at me from the bottom of the staircase.
"Stop looking at me like that Tristan."
His eyes light up with amusement. "What? I'm just excited for our date," he says as his smirk grows.
"This is not a date Tristan, you invited yourself," I say now annoyed.
"According to the contract it is."
I give him a stern look and stomp out the door. Once I reach Brady's car, I run and give him a huge hug. After we talk for a bit and wait for Tristan to come outside, we are off to the poetry reading.
About thirty minutes later, we pull up to a medium sized cozy cafe just outside Los Angeles. As we walk inside, Brady and Tristan are immediately recognized, and a few people come to get pictures. There's about ten minutes left before the reading starts, so both boys chat with their fans and take a few more pictures. When they're finally done, we take a seat towards the back of the venue at a high top table. I'm sitting on the barstool in between Brady and Tristan, which happens to be very uncomfortable for me.
As the poetry reading started I couldn't help but be amazed. The way the people expressed their emotions, and how powerful their words were, was inspiring and astounding. By the pleased look on Brady's face, I can tell he is enjoying it too. Tristan, on the other hand, looks like he could fall asleep. It wasn't until Brady grabbed my hand, that Tristan suddenly seemed awake. I couldn't help but notice the slight scowl on his face, but maybe it's just me.
When the reading was finally over, we waited until the crowd cleared out, then went to congratulate and speak to the readers and writers. Tristan lingered towards the bar area; probably talking up one of the lady bartenders. When the café finally clears, we get Tristan to go to the car.
Brady opens the door and we are blinded by flashing lights.
"Crap. Of course they are here," Brady said running his hand through his hair. "Why can't I just have one normal date?"
That made me smile. So it was a date.
"Well we can't just stand here all day. Don't act like you aren't used to it." With that, Tristan opened the door and led us out. Once the paparazzi asked who I was, Tristan grabbed my hand and put on a fake smile.
"Time to fake it," he whispered in my ear.
I try my best to act loved up with Tristan, but I can't ignore the look of hurt, jealousy, and confusion etched on Brady's face.
**Author's Note**
Hi guys! Sorry it took so long to update, and that the last few chapters are so short. I'm out of the country, so with the time difference and touring, it's hard to find time to write, but I promise I'll make it up to you! Also, thank you so much for 420+ reads! My goal was 100 by the end of June, and I got quadruple that so thank you so much! I'll try and update within the next two or three days!
