HONEYBEE•
Mike and Ben carried blankets into the living room. They were setting up a large area for all the losers to lay around and eventually sleep. After the dinner they all piled into Mike and Stan's house for the annual movie night.
Before it started, however, they pulled out some Uno cards to play a quick game. Bill held the title of Uno champion and he felt it was something to be very proud of. The six of them ended up playing a good three games while Stan sat on the couch. He was watching them but at the same time he was unfocused. Stan just felt numb.
"Damnit Eds, why the hell would you do that!?" Richie groaned as he drew four cards.
"The color is yellow, dumbass and stop calling me, Eds!"
Mike was humming softly to himself as he played. He had recovered from the breakdown outside of the restaurant, but Beverly had decided to keep an eye on him. Ben and Bev were sharing a hand of cards and they were down to three cards now.
"It's been awhile since last time Mike..," Ben was grinning over at Micheal who looked back at him confused.
"Since last time?"
"Since you've serenaded us with that sweet angel voice of yours." Richie sent a playful wink which caused Stan to roll his eyes so hard they had a 90% chance of getting stuck.
Mike loved to sing. He used to sing all the time on the Hanlon farm. The losers would often come over to help with chores just so they could listen to him. Then at sundown, he would bring out his guitar and sing whatever they wanted. It was one of the ways Stan fell for him. Mike would always sing songs towards him, saying everything he hadn't been able to say. Stan missed that a lot.
"Oh, it's been so long. I'm pretty sure my guitar playing is a bit rusty," he chuckled softly and tried to brush them off.
"Oh come on Muh-Mikey. Sing for us, please." Bill sat down his hand of cards and now everyone was looking at Mike.
"I guess I have no choice, huh?"
They all nodded, except Stan who was watching silently, waiting on what happens next. Mike huffed softly with a smile and stood. He made his way to the guest room where his instruments were set up.
He hadn't been in this room in so long it smelled unused. It would have been dusty if Stan didn't insist on frequent house cleaning and organization. Mike walked over to his guitar, it was aged with love and he smiled at all the memories it held. When he picked it up, the instrument hummed, definitely out of tune.
Mike took the guitar into the living room and took a seat on the arm of the love seat. After tuning his guitar up and playing a few practice chords, he looked up at Stan on the opposing couch.
Beverly tapped his calf, "play honeybee. It's you guy's song." She said lowly so only he could hear and Mike swallowed.
That song was emotional for him and it reminded him so much of Stan. Mike felt like he wasn't allowed to play it but once the room went silent, Mike found it hard not to play it. He took off his blazer, loosened up his tie, and rolled up his button up sleeves.
As Mike played the first chords of the song Stan sat up straighter and gave Mike his full attention. He admired the guitar; chipping paint and different scuffs and carvings on the once smooth wood. Stan remembered holding that guitar, back when he was interested in learning. He remembered he only asked Mike to teach him so they could be near each other more.
