JAMES AND RILEY: LOVE IN A HEARTBREAK

Chapter 1

RILEYS P.O.V.

Me and James had auditioned for the duet for nationals. In my opinion our duet was the strongest out of all the auditions. Since we've been dating for awhile, it made it very easy to put emotions into the dance and connect with each other. After Miss Kate's decision making, she came up to me and told me that me and James deserved and got the duet. I was so excited that I'd be performing a duet with James. I looked around studio A to go tell James the good news, but then I realized he was in studio B practising a duet with Beth. Beth's partner bailed on her. Beth and James used to have some history but now I think they've moved on. James chose to do the duet and I know he wouldn't let me down.

Chapter 2

RILEYS P.O.V.

I headed out of Studio A and walked down the hall to studio B to go tell James about our duet news! I wanted to be quiet though and not interrupt their duet. I didn't hear the music playing to their dance though. I got to studio B and the door was closed. I could hear talking so I knew I wouldn't interrupt their dance. I wouldn't mind interrupting "Beth's Dance" but since James was dancing too, I payed some respect. I opened the door a peek. They weren't there. I opened the door a bit more and saw them in the corner of the studio. Kissing.

Tears ran down my face and I wanted to just leave. I had to say something. Do something. "J-James." I said whimpering. He quickly pulled away from Beth. I didn't even want to talk to him. Why had I said anything?

JAMES P.O.V.

How could Riley walk in right in this moment? I felt so bad. The kiss didn't mean anything. Beth leaned forward and kissed me. I just chose to kiss her back but I didn't want to. She sat there standing at the door crying, staring at me and Beth standing beside each other.

"Riley, you know-" I started but Riley interrupted in her teary, shaky voice, "obviously I don't know. James..how could you honestly do this-" she started to cry again and turned around, ready to leave.

Chapter 3

RILEYS P.O.V.

I turned around. I wanted to leave. Leave everyone. I stomped off. I wanted to let James know how much it hurt. It hurt more than anyone could imagine. I felt like my world was over. My voice was so hurt from trying to hold back my crying, it felt like I had a bulge in my throat. I didn't even feel like talking to anyone. I wanted to get away from everyone and cry. Cry by myself. I walked down the hall back to studio A but I didn't want anybody to see me now. I was just about to go out the exit door when somebody grabbed my arm.

JAMES P.O.V.

I walked quietly after Riley, totally ignoring Beth. In fact, I wish I would've never done the duet with Beth. I grabbed Riley's arm. She turned around. Her face was sweaty and puffy. She looked so upset and hurt. She pulled away from me and turned back around, not saying anything. I grabbed her shoulders and turned her around. She looked into my eyes. Her eyes were holding back tears. "You don't understand Riley. And don't run away because you don't know. Listen to me." I told her. I let go of her shoulders and looked at the ground, wondering what was going to happen next. "I don't...I don't need to know. I don't need to understand anything. James, I don't even think you understand." She looked at the ground and took a step back. "You can run away. But if you run, you'll never know, Riley. You won't ever understand me." I felt like I was going to tear up and look like a mess too! I felt so bad. I felt like I wanted to run away. Erase that moment and run away as too.

"James...what I saw, can't be apologized for. You kissed Beth. Beth!" Riley said pulling back more. Her eyes weren't puffy anymore and she wasn't crying.
