Chapter 14

RILEYS P.O.V.

It was Nationals. Me and James still had such a strong relationship. We loved each other. James bailed out on the Beth duet too. Beth cried. I laughed.

We were up. Me and James stood at the curtain of the stage. The duet ahead of us was performing. They were good. Like really good. Me and James looked at each other. We both looked a little pale and nervous. Miss Kate came over from backstage.
"Guys! It's time. Go out and do your best. Even though I know you guys are gonna kill it, I still need to give you this pep talk. But seriously, you guys have nothing to worry about."
After Miss Kate gave us a talk, she hugged us both.
The duet ahead of us. Their song was over. I grabbed James' hand. I was nervous. James looked like he was fine, no worries. But that's just James.
Everyone applauded for the duet. I looked down at myself. My costume looked good. My feathers were in place and my makeup was OK. James's costume looked pretty fancy. We looked great.

"From The Next Step, performing a duet for us, we have Riley and James." The speaker announced. Me and James walked on stage. We didn't say a word. We assumed our positions. The music started.

JAMES P.O.V.

Riley looked nervous. She didn't even say a word. I didn't blame her.
The music started. We danced. I counted in my head.
5, 6, 7, 8. And 1, 2, 3, 4, ....
The dance was over. We didn't mess up and we were perfect.
