You placed your keys in their holder by the door and didn't miss a beat as you went back to your room with quick, eager steps.
Drew shot up into a seated position on your bed when she heard you shut the door. "What happened?" she asked.
Words couldn't leave your mouth. They couldn't even form in your head. Air was caught in your throat and refused to move. Your hands stumbled to your mouth as you tried to cough out an answer and hold off on tears all at the same time but neither worked.
Drew hopped to her feet and jogged over to you. She placed her hands on your arms. "(name). Breathe. Breathe in, baby. Just breathe."
You nodded and took in a breath.
"Hold it," she told you. "Two. Three. Four. Breathe out."
You did as she said. The breath shook as it left you.
"There you go," she whispered and touched her forehead to yours. You closed your eyes as she moved her hands to either side of your face, rubbing tears from your cheek. "Breathe in...Two. Three. Four. Breathe out."
You released the breath. Your heart calmed as air circulated properly throughout your body.
"Just relax, baby. I got you. Just breathe. Breathe."
You moved your hands to her wrists and leaned your face into her hands more as she coached you through your minor panic attack. Drew always had that beautiful calming effect on you through just her words and a simple touch. You hated always relying on Drew to deal with this frail and unstable side of you, but you loved her gentle comfort to no end.
You prided yourself on the fact that no one ever got the chance to see the headstrong, militant female weak, but Drew's seen you bawl your eyes out on so many occasions it's embarrassing. You felt horrible that she's probably dealt with more of your complaints and crying over the years than anything else.
"Better?" she asked.
"Yes. Thanks, Drew."
She stepped back and nodded.
You sniffled and wiped the remainder of tears from under your eyes. You took one more deep inhale. "Alright. I'm off to work."
"Work? You sure?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"I don't know if you're fine, but—"
"I'm fine, Drew."
"Well, are you at least going to tell me—"
"Later," you said and grabbed your clear plastic work glasses off of your dresser. "I'm going to be late if I don't leave now."
"Wait." Drew stopped you and held you by your wrist. She let out a quick chuckle and shook her head. "You're always moving so fast. I'm...I just worry about you. About your mental state."
You placed your hand on top of hers that stayed wrapped around your wrist. "I know. Don't be." You kissed her cheek. "We'll talk when I get home."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"...Alright. I love you."
"I love you too."
##Roderich heard the front door open and close but nothing after that. From the time he's spent here with you, he knew you were loud and uncensored, so he expected all hell to break loose once you got back, but it was quiet. He waited and listened for a little while longer but heard nothing but the refrigerator door open. Maybe Lutz got hurt.
