A girl with long black hair and beautiful green eyes answered the door. She immediately smiled once she realized who we were.

"Hello! I've been waiting for you to show up. I swear I've been excited and impatient all day. My name is Kelsey," she chuckles.
"Well come on in! I made some cookies, they're in the kitchen," she said still smiling.

I just smiled back at her and walked in the house, Lindsey was right behind me.

It was huge. One of the biggest houses I have ever been in. Kelsey led us into the kitchen and there was a man, I'm guessing the dad, and a girl around my age sitting in there already starting on the plate of cookies.

Kelsey gasped "Hey! Those are supposed to be for Gerard guys don't eat all of them!"

The two just looked at each other and started laughing, Kelsey just rolled her eyes but I could see the tiniest smile resting on her lips.

Lindsey spoke up then, "Hi everyone, my name is Lindsey and I am Gerard's caseworker. I will be having scheduled meetings with him once a week just so we can see how things are going. He turns 18 in four months so he won't be here long. I hope everyone will get along just fine." When she finishes she looks over at the girl that was eating the cookies.
She smiled, "You must be Nicole Row, it's nice to meet you. Will you and Gerard be sharing a room?"

Nicole smiled back and nodded.

She's been really quiet... she must not talk much. Thank God. In the last home they had a daughter that would not shut up for anything. It was annoying laying down across from her and trying to sleep while she stayed on her phone talking to her boyfriends all night. Yes I meant boyfriends...she wasn't a very good girlfriend.

The man cleared his throat and brought me out of my thoughts that I, once again, got lost in.

"My name is Alan", he said in a really deep voice, "welcome to the Row household Gerard, we're happy to have you here."
He seems really chill...actually they all seem really chill. I think I might like it here after all.

"Thank you guys, and I just ate so I don't have any room for cookies. So you can eat as many as you want." I chuckled. Alan and Nicole immediately went back to devouring the cookies. For some reason it brought a smile to my face.

"Nicole, why don't you go show Gerard to the room? I need to have a conversation with your parents." said Lindsey.

Nicole once again just nodded and got up off the chair, a cookie still in her mouth, and started heading towards the stairs. I glanced at Lindsey then immediately started following Nicole. She's really pretty. Long blonde hair, blue eyes, sort of edgy vibe to her. I like her. Too bad I'm not into women...

I just don't understand why we have to share a room. This house is fucking huge! I'll just ask Nicole once we get in the room and I put my bags down.

"Here we are, my bed is over here and your bed is over there. But you can feel free to put your stuff wherever, I'm not really picky about it." she said.

I glanced around the room and saw posters of a band that I knew all too well.

"OH MY GOD, YOU LIKE WATERPARKS?" I basically screamed.

She started to get excited and nodded really fast.

"You know who they are?"

"Yes I love them! Awsten is amazing and so is Otto and Geoff and ughh" I replied.

"I know right?" now she was the one screaming. "Ah you have good music taste that's so cool!"

We just stood and smiled at each other for a few seconds. I'm so relieved. I haven't stayed in a home with a person that likes the same music as me before. Its very relieving because now I don't have to hear "Hey turn that bullshit off and listen to some real music" whenever I want to listen to Entertainment for the 130,000 time.

I sat all of my stuff down on the bed and turned to her.

"We'll have to compare music that we like later. I'm excited to see who else you like," I said still smiling.

"Oh yes definitely!" she said practically beaming.

I then remembered the question I was going to ask her.

"Hey, I'm not trying to intrude or anything...but this house is huge! Why do we have to share a room?" I asked.

She wasted no time in answering, "Oh, I have my office I do school work in, Dad is a writer so he has an office, and Mom is an art teacher so she has an art office. That's pretty much all of the rooms besides my parents' bedroom of course."

I just nodded. That does make sense.

"Gerard come down here I'm leaving now." I heard Lindsey yell from the bottom of the stairs.

"Coming!" I yelled back.

Once I got downstairs Linds was already by the door.

"Hey kiddo so how do you like it so far?" she asked.

I rolled my eyes, "First of all, I'm not a kid, and I think its pretty cool. Me and Nicole have the same music taste. And Mr. and Mrs. Row seem really nice. I think this one is actually a good one."

Lindsey couldn't wipe the smile off her face.

"Alright Gee give me a hug"

I jumped on her and gave her a hug. Yes I know she's my caseworker but she's basically my best friend. She's been here through everything and she gets me. We do everything friends do, gossip, tease each other, talk about boy drama. And she's only 26 so it's not that weird.

"Okay Lindsey you can let go now you're going to see me next week damn." I giggled.

"Oh shut up I know. I'm just really happy that you're happy. Call me if anything happens okay? Do it immediately, I mean it. No running. You got that?"

"Yeah I got it. I promise." I said.

"Okay. Well I have to go because I have a meeting. Let me know how you settle in. Bye!"

"Bye Linds!" I said and closed the door.

I couldn't help but feel hope. This isn't going to be so bad after all.

Authors note:

eek okay I know its shitty. But I'm actually kind of proud of this? I'm so excited to actually start the plot and get into everything. Give me some feedback. Let me know if I need to change anything or made any mistakes. That's how writers grow! I mean I'm not calling myself a writer...I'm doing this more for fun purposes but I want to be one day hopefully. So I don't even care if it's negative.. Please give feedback. Thank you so much for reading.
