The Jutsu That Can't Reach You

A Teacher

Maya's POV:

“C-can you take me as your student?”

Here I am, standing before Tobirama Senju, bowing very politely. I was encouraged by Lord Tora, I'm currently very nervous but I came here determined as it might help me further in my Medical Ninjutsu.

Tobirama Senju just looked at me, observing me for a while as he was sitting in a table with Hashirama Senju, they are probably talking about something before I came but I badly don't want to miss the chance so I went to them.

“And why would I accept you as a student?” He asked, strictness is obvious in his tone. Of course he wouldn't just accept me. This added to my nervousness, but I'm already determined.

I now looked at him, “Because I believed learning about various jutsu will help me improve my skills in medical ninjutsu.”

He looked at me worse than a while ago, “No.” He firmly said then he turned away from me to the table, crossing his arms as if the conversation already ended. Hashirama-san turned to him with a bit surprise in his eyes.

“B-but...I'll make sure not to be a hindrance to you. I-I'll do my best, I will even act as your assistant. I'm willing to do anything.”

“I said no.”

“But why? I don't think its that bad.”

He turned to me, “I am a Senju, you are a Kemonomata. We belong to different clans. Just because our clans just made an alliance a while ago doesn't mean we already trust each other so easily.”

“But...”

“That's it.” He said looking away from me again.

Hashirama talked to him, “Tobirama, why don't you consider it? I think its a good symbol of our alliance with their clan. I also think she really is willing to learn.”

“I said no.” He still insisted.

I know I looked sad now, “Isn't there really anything that I can do?”

“Nothing.”

With that, I bowed again, “Okay. Sorry for the interruption.”

Third Person's POV:

Maya opened the door, got out and then closed it. Hashirama just looked at her with pity. Hashirama then turned to his brother.

“Tobirama, I think that's a little bit rude, considering their hospitality to us.”

Tobirama opened his closed eyes to look at his brother, “She's from a different clan, their clan might have created a pact with us but its possible for them to turn against us. She might have been sent to be a spy.”

“I think you're overthinking things. Maya, like us, desires peace in the same way we think. Why not give her a chance?”

“I already told you Big Brother, no.”

“Aside from that, she is a skilled medical ninja as well. You study corpse and the human anatomy too for studying various jutsu right? She's the perfect person to be an assistant.”

With what Hashirama has said, he became silent.

Tobirama might have turned her down but Maya don't want to easily give up. She is currently sitting in her room thinking what can she offer to him.

“He don't trust me?” She said, crossing her arms as she mulls things over. “Who does he think he is? Acting high and mighty. He's not even the clan leader!” Maya pouted, “How about if I told him to put a Cursed Seal on my tongue to prevent my talking so I can convince him that I won't betray them? That's possible right? Will that be enough I wonder?” She sighed.

The next day, Maya came back to the guest house where the Senju brothers reside. She got in and sat in front of the door where Tobirama's room reside. She then spoke.

“T-Tobirama-san, this is Maya. May I talk to you?”

Maya heard Tobirama's voice from inside, “Get in.” She got a bit happy as she opened the door, she thought Tobirama will reject her to talk to him. Maya sat in front of Tobirama. Tobirama on the other hand, is just sitting calmly as he crossed his arms, his eyes closed.

“T-Tobirama-san. You said you don't want to accept me as a student because you don't trust me, but what if I allowed you to put a Cursed Seal on my tongue to prevent my betrayal if that ever happens? You can even kill me.” She said desperately.

“Why are you so determined?” Tobirama said now looking at her.

“In all my life I have been a total loser. Right now that I have an opportunity I wanted to grab it and change my life even just a bit.” She said.

Tobirama closed his eyes again. Silence roamed the room for a moment.

“Fine then.”

Maya's heart fluttered so much after hearing that.

“But you will be kept under strict surveillance.”

“O-of course!” Maya said, looking like a puppy wagging its tail to its new owner.

“Don't mistake me. Any suspicious act from you and we will do the proper thing to constraint you. Also, I only approved of this because you can help me with my studies as you are a medical-nin, so I will use your abilities into great labor. Do you understand that?”

“Y-yes! Use me as you wish!”

'I can't believe I finally took stingy Tobirama's yes!' Maya thought very happily.
