After dropping Malia off at her house and leaving young Derek Hale in the care of Deaton and Lydia, Stiles drove Scott and Taryn back their house. The Stilinski wanted to ask Taryn if she wanted to spend the rest of the night or morning at her house, but knowing his dad wasn't going to be happy with him after finding out they were in Mexico, he gave the girl a hug and let her know she'll see her at school.

With that, Scott and Taryn tried to be quiet as they snuck back into the house. She felt bad for the stress she probably put on Melissa after all the woman allowed her into her home without asking for anything. It didn't help that Taryn caught sight of the few remain bills that Eichen sent her way (the ones the state didn't pay) and that made her feel even more guilty because she was already struggling enough with the normal bills.

That was why it wasn't a surprise to Taryn to see Scott's father, Rafael, sleeping on the couch. The man had been occasionally spending nights in the living room to help his ex-wife repair a few appliances and the leaking roof in the dining room and kitchen. The man was also trying to become a better father figure.

Scott, who was too focused on his dad, didn't realize the tools were on the ground and accidentally kicked them across the room. Taryn grimaced as Rafael McCall immediately woke up and looked at the two teenagers.

"Scott?" He sat up and blinked a few times. "Taryn?"

The girl waved a bit and bent down to help Scott pick up the tools.

"Hey, dad." Scott awkwardly greeted. "What's with the tools?"

"Oh, I was just, uh..." he cleared his throat as he moved to the teenagers. "...getting started on a list of repairs you guys need done. What time is it?"

"It's um..." Scott glanced at the clock beside Taryn and after realizing it was after four, the girl quickly turned it around.

"It's midnight." She smiled at the male politely.

"We were all supposed to have dinner," Rafael stated, causing the girl to look down. While he was trying to fix his relationship with Scott, he was also trying to get to know the girl his former wife adopted out of almost nowhere--someone who used to be in Eichen, of all places. "We had a deal. When your mom had a night shift, we have dinner."

"Sorry," Scott stepped in front of the girl, "I totally forgot about it. When we got back from the camping trip, I had to go straight to the animal clinic to finish up work and since Taryn can't drive, I had to take her with me."

"All right, well, then, tomorrow night. Dinner."

"Great." Scott and Taryn smiled at the man before walking to their room to get a little bit of rest before having to get to school.

A few hours later, Scott and Taryn met back up with Stiles at school before class. The girl was nervously playing with the straps on her backpack as she walked between the two boys. Even though it had only been three to four years since she had last been in school, it seemed like she had almost forgotten everything she had learned.

The school counselor that she met up with every so often--as asked by Melissa--assumed it was due to the trauma she had gone through with losing her family and being in Eichen House.

"You've been doing really well," Stiles put his arm around the girl, holding her close, "you're still using the highlighter rule I taught you, right?"

Taryn nodded, "yeah, but I just feel like half of the book is in red--granted, Malia's is all red, I guess."

What upset her most was she use to be a straight-A student and was well on her way to be the valedictorian of her old class, but it was all flushed down the drain the moment the Nogitsune entered her life. Now, being free from all that, she was hardly above a C or a D in her classes, but she was thankful that all the members of the pack were helping her and Malia catch back up.
