The rest of the school day, Taryn's classes had gone by excruciatingly slow without Stiles, Scott, or Lydia around. Fortunately, most of her classes had Malia, because the school thought it was a good idea to have the two students who had special cases be put in the same classes so the teachers could work with them together. Kira would silently follow the two girls after class, looking from her phone and back to them, occasionally entering the conversation and correcting Malia on anything she said wrong.

When school ended Taryn messaged Stiles about what was happening and the boy replied back in a somewhat rushed reply.

Lydia is coming to get you and Kira to come to your house. I have Derek right now.

The girl had already known that since Kira had explained the situation already and was waiting by a curb for Lydia Martin, but she was wishing Stiles could explain what happened after he left the school. Either way, she replied back and put the phone into her jacket pocket.

"Have you heard anything from Scott?"

Kira glanced over at Taryn and fumbled with the black screened cell in her hand. She shook her head.

"Not really, he told me Derek can't remember anything about the house fire, but that about it." She thought for a moment. "Lydia told me Derek acts like he doesn't recognize any of them, either... so maybe he's stuck in the mindset of the past Derek."

Taryn didn't have much of a reply to that, so she settled on the one word she was thinking. "Weird."

She could only imagine how difficult it would be to handle a young Derek that didn't know and probably didn't trust the people he trusted days before. A part of her was glad she was going to be with Lydia and Kira, despite her not being great friends with the two girls and often feeling uncomfortable hanging out with them.

The girl was brought out of her thoughts when Lydia's car pulled up beside the two girls. Taryn grabbed her book bag from her feet and shuffled to the backseat and scooting to the middle. She greeted Lydia softly, going back to her phone which was blowing up from texts from Malia.

"I have to get some gas before going to Scott's."

Kira responded while Taryn hummed in agreement, still enthralled in her phone. When she was done talking with Malia, she tugged out her homework and looked them over. She scribbled over her math homework, finding herself getting aggravated when she didn't understand the notes she took.

"Do you want a copy of my notes?"

Taryn looked up in surprise, finding Kira turned around in her seat slightly to look at Taryn. The girl flushed red, but nodded her head. She almost forgot Lydia and Kira usually wrote double notes to help both Malia and herself in anything they needed help with. Usually, it was Lydia who gave Malia and Taryn a notebook full of notes, but Kira liked to help when she could.

"Sorry..."

"Don't be," Kira gave her a soft look, "it's not your fault."

Lydia glanced into the rear-view mirror at Taryn. "Did Eichen really not allow any education?"

Taryn pursed her lips and furrowed her brows. "They were more focused on healing us. The only classes they had were therapy classes. Anyway, most of the really crazy ones there would have been too drugged up to learn anything. It's sad, really."

She trailed off into a whisper at the end as her eyes downcast to her math book. She didn't miss Eichen at all and she didn't miss any of the patients. However, now that she was thinking about it, the place probably had more to do with her problem of fitting back into society than she originally thought. Because even though she was only there for almost four years, they managed to do put enough pills in her system and do enough emotional abuse on her to do their damage; and she wasn't mad at Noshiko Yukimura for putting her in there, she understood why, but she still wished the woman had done more research.
