Y/n walks down the sidewalk, remaining close to the walls of the shops. She peers into the window of one and sees a small cozy café. With a smile, she opens the door and walks in, grabbing a notepad and a pencil from her bag.
She scans the menu and scribbles down her order and a few other things before walking to the cashier and handing it to him. He quickly reads it and nods at the girl before putting it in the computer. He points to the total and y/n quickly hands him the money. With a small smile, she turns around to sit down, but bumps into a redhead.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry," the redhead exclaims, looking at the other girl's coffee covered shirt.
Y/n doesn't hear her and instead rushes over to grab napkins, trying to soak up the spill.
"Are you okay?" she asks, following her over to the napkins. Again, y/n does not respond and the redhead tilts her head in confusion.
She taps her on the shoulder and the girl turns around, looking embarrassed.
"Are you okay?" she asks again, noticing the girl looking at her lips intently.
"I," y/n tries to croak out, her voice going through several octaves before she sighs and starts writing on the notepad still in her hand. She hands it to the redhead who smiles in realization.
Immediately, she pulls a pen out of her purse and writes something back, handing it to her.
My name's Sophia. I'm very sorry about your shirt. May I buy you a new one?
Y/n smiles a bit before writing something and handing it back again.
It's okay. My name's y/n.
After that day, y/n and Sophia exchanged numbers. The two of them text everyday. Sophia secretly tries to learn ASL so they can sign to each other.

It's been a week since the two met and Sophia was very adamant about introducing the girl to her friends. The (redhead/blonde/brunette, etc) shyly tried to decline, not wanting to embarrass herself.
The redhead decides that she'll at least add her to the groupchat.
