Amber had a scowl the entire time the doctor was casting her arm. If looks could kill, everyone in the room would be dead.

"Okay, all done!" The doctor with bright blond hair said with a smile, "Be more careful okay sweetie?" she said while standing up and smiling at Hopper, "Chief," she added with a flirty tone before exiting the room.

Amber faced towards Hopper and held up her bright blue cast, "I think it looks nice."

Hopper rolled his eyes and stood up, "Sure does kid." He stood up with a grunt, "so tell me more about this Billy kid, yeah?"

Amber hopped off the table and walked next to Hopper, "I know nothing about him except that his name is Billy, he has a blue Camaro and a sister."

Hopper pulled out a cigarette and lit it once they got outside. He inhaled deeply with a nod and blew the smoke out, "Do you want to press charges? I can bring him in."

Amber tucked a piece of hair behind her ear as she thought. Would it really be worth it to get Billy in trouble? He did seem like the kind of guy to go out of their way to make someone else's life hell if they messed with him. Although, she would like to see him get a taste of his own medicine, but it wasn't really worth it to her. Amber looked up at Hopper, "No, but I do want him to pay for the cast . I mean if he has a Camaro I'm sure he can afford to pay for this," she said and held up her arm.

Hopper took another drag and looked down out her, "Whatever you want, kid."

That night when Amber got home, her godmother almost fainted at the sight of her broken arm, and Amber had to sit and listen to her cry for an hour about how her arm would be deformed forever. Dustin, however, was pretty sidetracked until Amber mentioned how she broke her arm and who was involved.

"Wait, so the girl had red hair?" Dustin asked Amber for the third time.

"Yes, Dustin the girl had red hair," she said with a groan.

Dustin paced in front of her, his hand twitching by his sides, "Was her name Max? Was she wearing a striped jacket?"

Amber rolled her eyes and smiled at him, "Do you have a crush on her, Dusty? You seem awfully enamored with this girl."

Dustin's face reddened, "No! No way, she just beat me in Dig Dug and I need to get to know my competition better. That's all!"

Amber's smile grew wider, "Sure, Dusty. I believe you one hundred percent."

Dustin fell back into his bean bag with a groan, "What am I going to do? I'm pretty sure Lucas likes her too."

Amber thought for a moment before answering, "Well, why don't you ask her to go trick or treating with you guys this Sunday? I'm sure she hasn't made many friends here yet."

Dustin jumped up with a wide grin, "Yes! That's a great idea!" he ran over to Amber and wrapped her in a hug, "You're literally the best!" he said and then ran out of her room shouting goodnight to her too.

------------

The next day at school, Amber was bitter. Her eyes were narrowed and her jaw was clenched, which caused her to get a headache. She had just finished her last period, art, which she could not participate in cause her cast went over her left hand and she was left-handed. Amber pushed through the crowded halls and grabbed her backpack from her locker. She glanced at the clock hoping to catch Charlie before her rehearsals started, but she was too late. So, Amber headed to the gym to hopefully meet Billy.

As she walked out of the school and headed towards the gym, she was surprised to see him leaning against the brick wall with a cigarette hanging loosely from his lips.

When he saw her approaching, his lips pulled up into a smirk when he noticed her bright blue cast, "I see you matched your cast color to my car, how sweet," his deep voice rumbled with sarcastic humor.

"Cut the shit, Billy," she snapped, "I decided not to press charges against you, but you are going to pay for this piece of shit cast."

Anger erupted in Billy's blue eyes as he stared down at her, "who in the hell do you think you are?" he growled, taking a threatening step towards her.

"Look, dude, I could easily call Hopper and get him to take you back to the station, but I don't think you want to do that, so listen up. You're going to pay for the cast and then we don't have to see each other ever again," she said hotly, her eyes wide with anger.

Billy scoffed and took another drag on his cigarette. He eyebrows were furrowed as he thought about what she said, and his shoulders surprisingly slumped in defeat, "Fine, how much was it?"

"A grand altogether," she said bluntly.

Billy coughed on the smoke that he inhaled from his cigarette, his eyebrows raised in shock, "A grand! Okay, now there is no way in hell that I'm going to pay for that!" he shouted.

Amber folded her arms, well kind of, "Well, then I guess we can get Hopper involved then, I'm sure he can figure it out."

Billy rolled his eyes, "Damn, you're a real piece of work, you know that?" he hissed and stomped out his cigarette, "look, I don't want to get the cops involved, alright?"

Amber scoffed, "Fine, then what are you going to do?"

Billy shrugged, "I dunno, sell weed to middle schoolers?"
