Amber winced as Billy finished putting the last bandaid on her knuckles. Her cheeks were bright red from embarrassment and her eyes were slightly bloodshot from crying, not her best look. She glanced at Billy briefly out of the corner of her eye and suddenly felt so small and insecure.

Billy shifted in his seat, picking at the rips in his light wash jeans. He met her gaze and quickly looked back to his jeans, "are you okay now?" He winced at his harsh words, but then again why did he even care about this girl?

Amber nodded, "um yeah, thanks for the bandaids, Billy."

Billy waved his hand slightly, "it was nothing," his eyes wandered back to the large scar on her neck and curiosity bubbled up inside him, "you got a gnarly scar on your neck."

Amber clenched her teeth together, "yup," she said slowly, trying to not remember the details that lead up to her getting that ugly scar on her neck.

They sat in tense awkward silence for a good couple of minutes before Amber turned around in her seat and looked back towards the arcade, "do you think he's going to come out again?" she asked Billy, referring to Keith."

Billy shook his head, "probably not."

"Okay, well, I should probably go then. My aunt probably wants my cousin and me to come home soon," she turned back around to face him, "I know I already said thanks, but thank you again."

Billy gave her a tight-lipped smile, "yeah don't mention it." Then the asshole in him turned back on and he smirked, "since I basically saved you from that dweeb, that means I don't have to pay for that cast right?"

"Oh my god, you're such a dick," Amber snapped as she got out of his car, "you are totally paying for this cast, Billy."

Billy rolled his eyes, but he didn't really seem as annoyed with her as he usually did. He was about to say something but Max suddenly pushed her way past Amber who was leaning by the passenger door and into the car.

"Well?" Max said with raised eyebrows and pointed to the time on her watch, "you said to be out in thirty minutes, here I am, on time for once."

"Shut up, we're leaving," he growled at his sister.

Max shut the door loudly causing Amber to hop back a little in surprise, and she narrowed her eyes as Billy revved the engine causing the tires to squeal. She took a couple of steps back for her own safety as Billy pulled out of the lot, she did not want to almost get hit by his car again. Amber was brought out her thoughts when she noticed Billy had stopped his car and rolled down his window.

"See ya around, Amber," he said flashing her a charming smile and then sped off.

Amber rolled her eyes but felt the familiar heat of a blush creeping up her neck. She quickly snapped herself out of it. Why in the world would she even be blushing? Especially because of Billy Hargrove, no way.

"Amber!" Dustin shouted across the parking lot, waving his arms around, "can we go now?"

Amber walked towards her cousin, "yeah, everything good?"

Dustin nodded, "oh yeah, perfect," he turned towards his friends, "c' mon boys lets go," he said with an overly enthusiastic smile.

Mike and Lucas both quickly shuffled behind Dustin, keeping their heads low and whispering to each other occasionally.

Amber tilted her head, those boys were so strange. She pulled out her car keys from her pocket and opened the doors for the boys and got into the driver's seat. "Did you guys have fun? Also, did Will leave before you all, I wouldn't want to leave him there by himself."

"Will's... fine," Dustin answered, his voice high and a little pitchy, "his mom got him not too long ago."

"Okay," Amber said and raised an eyebrow as she looked at the three of them through her rearview mirror. They were all bent into each other quickly whispering about something important. She looked away from the boys feeling very curious to why they were acting more weird than usual, and she had a feeling it had something to do with Will Byers.
