welcome to viper's daily rant ™

*sips on tea*

this is a lovely place where i scream about things that are controversial. or things that are not controversial but i still feel they need to be screamed about. now, swear words will be present in these. so, if you have an issue with swearing, i'd advise you to leave.

now, today's episode will be very controversial, and possibly triggering. it has to do with a certain TV show which recently gained a second season, much to my dismay.

you likely know which TV show i am talking about. let's dive in.

trigger warning: heavy mentions of r*pe and suicide

ah. 13 reasons why. yes, i love dylan minette. yes, i love brandon flynn. they are beautiful, beautiful people. katherine langford, too. i love all of this cast but the show... back it up back it up. i watched this show when my petty ass was in 7th grade. and i dont think i really realized it then, but i was generally disgusted. my subconscious screamed for me to stop watching it but i needed to know what happened.

i loved the characters justin foley and jessica davis. they were by far my favorite characters. i wanted to see how their story ended.

and then, i got to the scene in the last episode. i am sure you are all familiar with this scene. and i was done. i covered my eyes and cried. like a baby. why. what would possess the producers to create something like that. and before you scream at me, let me just say that— yes. i know this show was utterly raw and hid nothing from the viewers.

there was rape ON SCREEN.

T W I C E

this is where i draw the line. and back in my days of 7th grade, i didn't care that much, despite my own *slight* history of mental heath issues. and when they announced season 2, i wanted to watch it and i wanted to find out what would happen to my justin and my jessica. but now i want anything but to watch it.

glorifying and then romanticizing suicide? are you shitting me? no. after my school went through an ORDEAL with suicide. why are there still people freaking out over it?

suicide should never, EVER be portrayed as a revenge, and then romanticized and glorified. this show struck me. like seriously.

if you like the show, please comment and tell me your opinion. this is mine, but i will reason with yours as well.

in summary: i will not be watching this show. it's portrayal of suicide is upsetting and suicide should never be used as a way to depict revenge.

anyways, thank you for tuning into viper's daily rants ™ and please tell me what else i should scream about
