“Where is your mom young girl?” My dad asks as he entered the dining area.
“Oh, she’s right at the sala. “ Tipid kong sagot sa kanya.
My dad just went to the living room and I did followed waiting for what’s gonna happen next.
“Kathrina, have you signed the divorce papers already?” My dad asks my mom. Yeah. They are going into divorce.
“Yes Andre. Let’s just talk about it in the library”
It’s heartbreaking. Malalaman mo nalang na mag hihiwalay na pala ang mga magulang mo ng walang bahid ng guilt sa kanila kung maiwan man nila ang anak nila. Masakit. Nakakapanghina. I tried to hide my tears and not let them fall. Again.
I am not perfect tho, my family too. Dati masaya at simpleng pamilya lamang ang mayroon kami. Pero alam nyo ba ung sinasabi nilang “na fall out of love” na? Ganoon ang nangyare sa pamilya ko at sa mga magulang ko.
Nag decide silang mag divorce kasi wala na daw pag mamahal. Literal na pag mamahal. My dad had an affair and so as my mom too. Ika nga nila e patas lang sila. At wala silang pakielam sa nararamdaman ko. Even my brother’s. Kaya naiinis din ako sa kanila.
I feel my phone vibrated and looked at the name of the caller.
“Hi there Kuya”
“Hi Lil Sis. How are you doing?” God, I miss him so much.
“I’m fine. I guess? How about you. It’s been a while”
“Really? I heard about their annulment. Father called me last night”
“Oh? Really?” I said sarcastically. “I am surprised.” I grinned in the phone.
“Yeah, sounds amazing right?”
I sighed.
“I miss you kuya. Kelan kaba babalik? Nakakainis ka. Iniwan moko. Ako nalang tuloy mag aalaga at bibisita kay Lolo sa foundation.”
I heard he let out a big sigh.
“I’m- I’m sorry Katalina. It’s just that,---“ I cut him out.
“Yeah yeah I know. Wala padin naman silang pakielam satin. They still choose to separate ways. At iniisip ko naring lumipat sa condo ko para naman mabawas bawasan na ang kadramahan dito sa bahay, Who knows baka mag dinner pa sila sabay sabay sa dinning area natin.That sucks right?”
I heard him laugh. A weak laugh. How I missed my brother.
“Baliw ka talagang bata ka. O sya. Pumasok kana sa school malalate kana. Just call me if needed and the thought na lilipat ka sa condo mo? Better. I don’t want you to get hurt. Besides they ruin this family enough.”
Biglang naging seryoso si Kuya. My brother decided to leave upon knowing that mag didivorce sila. Nag pursue nalang siya ng law sa Harvard. He says that he can’t stand seeing them like that. Ruining what we had. I just planned to stay. Because of my Lolo. But now, my Lolo is in the foundation. Doon nila dinala si Lolo dahil sobrang tanda na daw. I hate them for doing that. So much. Pero ngayong said na ako, baka mag alsa balutan narin ako. Like what Kuya said, they ruined enough,
“Yeah, I guess, I got to go Kuya. Bye. Just, just take care always alright? I love you Kuya. Thanks for calling.”
“I will and I love you too”
I turned off the call and just grab my keys. I need to get out of here before they come out of the library. It would be hell for me.
“Tuloy na ba talaga ang paghihiwalay ng mga magulang mo iha?” Si Nana Cely. Ang nag alaga sa amin ni Kuya.
“Opo Nana, tuloy na tuloy na. “
“Wag kang mag alala anak. Maging matatag ka na lamang sa naging desisyon nila.”
“Yun na nga Nana e, wala nang magpapalakas ng loob ko. Kung wala na ang kuya ko. Hindi ko na kakayanin pa Nana. Pero Nana alam mo yun? Immune nako. Manhid na. ”
Nginitian ko na lamang ng tipid si Nana at lumabas na ng bahay.
