The Byun's walked into Baekhyun's room first, and Chanyeol could hear Mrs. Byun saying, "Sweetheart, guess who we ran into? He's so happy to know you're awake."

Baekhyun responded with, "Who is it?"

Chanyeol chuckled to himself, playfully rolling his eyes as he walked into the room with a bright smile and replied, "Silly, Baekkie, like you don't already know."

Chanyeol was overjoyed to see his Baekhyun's eyes open. And he waited semi-patiently for Baekhyun to laugh and say he was kidding, before throwing his arms open with that beautiful smile Chanyeol loved so much.

He waited, and then . . .

"I'm sorry, but w–who are you . . .?" Baekhyun asked, his brow furrowed in confusion as not even an ounce of recognition reflected in his eyes.

Chanyeol froze mid-step, his smile slipping away as he weakly muttered, "What? Are you joking? Baekkie, please, don't joke like that."

Baekhyun's brow remained furrowed, and then he turned to his mother as he quietly asked, "Mom? Who is that?"

And that's when it finally hit Chanyeol like a ton of bricks. Baekhyun didn't remember him . . . That hit to the back of the head, it gave him more than a coma . . .
