‷ CHAPTER THREE ‴
THE MURDER◇─◇──◇────◇────◇────◇─◇
I arrived 45 minutes before school started just to do some research. I entered the library and searched for any book about gang murders that had happened in Riverdale. My fingers glided over the book blocks until I saw the one I was looking for. Riverdale's darkest gang murders.
I pulled it out of the rack and went up to the lady. I placed the book on the counter. She looked at it and returned her gaze at me. "You students are always into these dark conspiracies.. aren't you?" I shrugged. "Research purposes." I gave her my school card that she scanned. She gave it back to me along with my book.

We walked into the school halls and saw the chaos. The students were panicking and clearly scared. Not to mention the amount police officers that were walking around. "Sheriff Keller what happened?" Jughead asked the middle aged man with salt and pepper hair. He sighed deeply. "One of the students here have been murdered." I frowned. "What? Who?!" "The victim is Melody Valentine. Her body was found this evening. Forensics say she was killed two days ago."
I closed my eyes and sighed. "She was one of the Pussy Cats right?" I asked Betty. She nodded and folded her arms across her chest. "Why is the murderer killing innocent students?!" "I don't know Betty. We don't know much for now. Don't lose hope. We will catch the murderer. Go back to your class." He said while eyeing us sternly. Jughead and I walked to the student lounge. I flopped on a chair. Jughead seated himself next to me. A comforting silence erupted between us. I opened up my book that I lent and started reading it.
'Jealousy is the most popular thing to drive a person to murder. And jealousy isn't new to Riverdale.'
I frowned and wrote the quote down. "Jealousy.." "What did you find?" Jughead asked as he bent over to look at my notes. "It's too soon to say.. but maybe this person is killing out of jealousy." He sighed. "It's possible. Maybe this person is killing over territory." "Hey Juggie!" A brunette squealed enthusiastically as she entered the student lounge. He turned around and gave her an awkward smile. "Hey Lydia." "I knew I would find you here.. and who are you?" She asked me with a menacing scowl on her face.
"Jimmy." I answered uninterested. She chuckled. "That is a boy's name. What a shame." I raised an eyebrow. "Your name really suits you. My grandma's name is Lydia." I said with a mischievous smile. Jughead chuckled. She folded her arms across her chest and examined me from top to bottom. "Such a peasant. Well, Juggie, tell Sweet Pea to meet me after school." She said as she bit her bottom lip while smiling. She gave me one last look before leaving the student lounge on her Givenchy heels. He gave me an awkward look which I chuckled to.

"Melody Valentine's body was found today in Sweet Water River. She had been missing for over two weeks. When forensics held an autopsy, the cause of death was suffocation. She had been stabbed multiple times after being strangled." The news reporter's voice boomed through the TV speakers. My phone vibrated. I unlocked it and read Archie's text.
'I found out something disturbing. Meet us at Pop's.'

"So I took a picture of the evidence that was at Sheriff Keller's house. There are more than hundreds of cuts on Melody's body. Why would you stab someone that many times after they're already dead?" Archie explained as he showed all of us the pictures. I grabbed his phone and studied the cuts. I quickly took out my notebook and began sketching the pattern. "What are you doing?" Veronica asked. "She is drawing something that she finds suspicious. When she pulls out her notebook, sh*t is about to get real." Jughead joked. They all chuckled, earning a glare from me.
Once I finished the sketch of Melody's cuts, I looked at it intensively. "Interesting.. It's like a weird pattern. Almost like a..." I trailed off. "Almost like a what?" Archie asked. I looked up at him. "I don't know. Yet." "I'm really curious to find out what her parents are gonna do." Betty wondered. "What do you mean?" I asked with a frown plastered onto my forehead.
"Melody was a Hells-Angel. That is a gang, just like the Serpents. But the Hells-Angels were the least violent gang in Riverdale so why would anyone want to kill one of them?"
"Riverdale is full of gangs. The Surenos rule the East side, the Serpents the South side, the Hells-Angels the West side and then you have the Ghoulies who don't belong." Jughead explained while shrugging as if it was nothing. "It could be that the Ghoulies or Surenos had a problem with her father and they decided to kill his daughter for revenge." Veronica butted in.
"So you think that this is all gang rivalry?" They all nodded. I bit my bottom lip. I slowly shook my head. "This is something more than gang rivalry. Gangs just beat up people or maybe stab them a few times but this? This was done by someone, something way higher." They all stared at me with confused expressions. "Let me guess.. you don't believe me?" They looked at each other and then nodded. "You sound like a conspiracy nut Jimmy." Betty stated. "You can believe me or not, but I will get to the bottom of this. Believe that."
