Chapter 14

Freddy's POV

I banged my head against the locker.

"Locker man, I heard your call", I heard Tomika say.

I turned around and she gasp.

"Freddy, what happen to your eye"?

"I accidently ran into a door while skateboarding", I lied.

"Oh. I heard you and Zack broke up because of a rumor".

"Yeah and he believed it".

"I'm sorry", she said hugging me.

"It's not your fault", I said hugging back.

Tomika is like a second sister to me. We pulled away from each other.

"You coming to lunch"?

"I'm going to skip for today".

"okay. Later".

She left. I sat on the floor and stared at my songbook. I opened it and looked at the song I wrote last night.

On My Own

It almost feels like it was just a dream

All these memories of you and me

Blown away in the summer breeze

It almost feels like we just never were

All the time we spent was just a blur

Now it's just me and a melody

So what am I

Suppose to do

Cause all these plans we made in the sand are through(Or change sand to band if you want)

"Here".

I looked up and saw Zack with food.

"It's not poisoned is it"?

"No, you need to eat".

"Why do you care"?

"Because even though we've broken up, I still care about you. Even if you're a backstabbing slut".

I stood up angry.

"I rather starve to death", I said coldly.

"Why do you have to be so stubborn"?

"Why do you have to be an asshole"?

"Me? You're the one that cheated on me"!

"I DID NOT AND IF YOU'RE GOING TO BELIEVE ASHER INSTEAD OF ME THEN DON'T TALK TO ME EVER AGAIN"!

I stormed off.

At home

And maybe I'm falling on my face

I'm walking right off this stage

I heard screaming. RACHEL! I ran into her room and got dad off her. He turned around and slapped me. I fell to the ground. He started punching and kicking me.

"NO"!

I saw grab her lamp and smash it on top of his head. He fell to the floor groaning. She knelt down beside me.

"Are you okay"?

"Yeah".

I saw dad behind her.

"LOOK OUT"!

She was too late. Dad picked her up threw her across the room. Before I could get up, he stomped on my hand breaking it. I screamed out in pain. He started choking. My vision started filling up with spots and darkness. I used my unbroken hand to reach something. He kept punching me making my nose and mouth bleed. I grabbed a shard of glass from the lamp and stabbed his arm. He screamed and I kicked him in the gut. I got up and ran to Rachel. My whole entire body was screaming out in pain. I shook her awake.

"Rachel, wake up, we gotta go".

She got up and grabbed the her hidden duffel bag we have in case anything like this happened. 

"I'll meet you in the backyard".

"Okay".

She climbed out the window. I ran to my room and grabbed my duffel bag. I quickly grabbed my songbook and put it in. I turned around and saw dad with a metal bat. 

"You. Little. FAGGOT"!

He swung at me and I ducked. I ran to my window and was halfway through when he swung again and glass went everywhere. He grabbed my foot and pulled me back inside making glass scrape against my skin. He smashed the bat into my ribs. I screamed. He was about to hit me again when Rachel hit him with her own bat knocking him down. She grabbed my hand and helped me up.

"Come on"!

We ran downstairs and out the door. We looked back and saw dad at the window. We ran down the street with him screaming.

"I'LL FIND YOU TWO, YOU HEAR ME, I WILL FIND YOU AND KILL YOU JUST LIKE YOUR MOTHER"!

At the park

We sat down at the bench out of breath.

"Freddy".

"Yeah"?

"What are we going to do"?

I didn't answer. I only pulled her close to me. We fell asleep together.

It almost feels like it was just a dream
