Her ears were filled with the sounds of metal scraping on metal, titanium crushing and cracking, small explosions on either side of her, and the loud screeching of the bottom of the plane on the icy ground. Her mind was filled with ringing, the sound nearly overwhelming her as she wrapped her fingers around the two levers that controlled the machine-guns on top of the jet. Jay pressed the glowing red buttons, her ears filling with even louder ringing as Frost Giants dropped dead to the icy ground.
A panel lowered from the ceiling in front of her, several different switches with blinking lights beside them prompting her to flick every one of them. She faintly, very faintly, heard the sounds of missile's leaving the capsules. Jay could see Loki's lips moving, as if he was trying to tell her something, but she couldn't hear him over the sounds of metal on metal.
Finally, the jet came to a stop, and she could hear scratching and scraping on the outside of the vehicle. Her hearing returned to her as she continued firing at the Frost Giants climbing onto the jet, until one of them managed to tear the machine off and chuck it ten yards away. "We need to go, now! They'll tear the roof off of this thing in no time!" She shouted, unstrapping herself from the pilot's chair and quickly walking to the back of the jet.
Jay flinched as she heard a smash from the front of the jet, her eyes widening when she saw the glass from the windshield all over the ground. Loki quickly raised his hands, a green shield appearing in place of the window to keep the dark blue creatures out. She hurriedly opened the weapons cabinet, taking out a grey duffel bag and kneeling down on the ground. Jay unzipped it, opening the bag up and taking out her metal staff along with a few smaller daggers. She fastened the knives to her belt, finally standing up and walking over to Loki.
"Are you ready?" She asked quietly, handing him the staff and helmet. He kept one hand up to keep the shield alive as he stared down at her, his eyes periodically glancing from the helmet to her eyes. Finally, he grinned, taking the helmet and putting it on his head, grasping the familiar staff in his hand finally looking forwards towards the monsters banging their blue, clawed hands banged on the transparent green wall.
The God took a deep breath, his forest green eyes sparkling with mischief as he snapped his fingers. The glowing green shield expanded out, pushing the ten or so Frost Giants out of the way, allowing them safe passage from the jet. She connected the two ends of her metal staff, slamming it to the metal floor. Almost instantly, she was launched out of the jet, a trail of glowing blue mist following behind her as she hurriedly glanced around to pick a target.
(Que Immigrant Song xD)
She settled on a particularly large group of Frost Giants waiting beneath her for her descent, holding her staff above her head as she plummeted towards the icy ground. As she made it to the ground, Jay brought the end of her staff down to the ice, a bright blue colored bubble expanding out from the bottom of it to knock all of the surrounding giants to the ground. A crack formed in the ice as her eyes narrowed at each of the giants, her hand raising before hundreds of cards flew out from inside of the jet and formed several rotating circles around her body. As the creatures started to get up, her now red glowing eyes clicked from each one of the monsters, a smirk growing upon her lips. This would be interesting.
Meanwhile, Loki was creating illusions left and right, throwing daggers every which way into the chests of the ten foot tall beasts. He periodically looked over to Jaylynn to make sure she was safe before returning to his own fight.
Jay took advantage of the momentary opening in between the Frost Giants, sprinting as fast as she could towards a tall mountain covered in ice and snow. Atop the huge monument, she could scarcely see the bright glow of red light. Jay glanced back, seeing that a majority of the giants were rushing towards the portal and Loki was taking out as many as he could before they ever got there. She saw Loki give her a salute, prompting her to raise her staff before slamming it to the ground.
Her eyes blazed red as she shot up into the air, and she could faintly hear the ice that was once below her smashing to smithereens. She could begin to see her breath in front of her, the edges of her gloved fingers twitching slightly from the temperature. She landed on a stone ledge before slamming the staff down once more and rocketing up the side of the mountain. When she finally made it to the top, she landed on the snowy ground, a cloud of cards rising up behind her. Jay looked up, her glowing red eyes glued to Ash's iris'.
His eyes were red. Not glowing red, like hers, but just a flat red with a glowing white aura surrounding them. They weren't the color of roses that would be picked to give to a lover, they weren't even the color of an apple a student might give a teacher that they like to have classes with. They were the color of blood. Blood that had been freshly spilled from a dead body, blood that had been shed from a person who was murdered. And that's what terrified her.
"I see you've come to play, Love?" Ash asked, giving her a lopsided grin as he tilted his head to the side.
"I've come to stop you." She growled, her lips turning up into a scowl as a spear formed in his hands.
"I can't be stopped, love, you should know this." He told her in a sing-song voice, beginning to walk towards her with a spring in his step.
"Then I've come to slow you down." And with that, she rushed forwards.
To her death, or to victory, she would have to find out soon.
Wowie zowie. So, I...am not really happy with this chapter, but I always put a limit at around 1000 words so I have enough to fill the next one. I rewrote this chapter a few times because I wasn't really happy with the fighting parts of it - it sounded a bit stupid and too fast - but I guess I settled for this! It's better than all my other tries at this, so I'm proud of that, at least!
