Keith slept soundly for the rest of the night. Allura finally left Shiro, thinking he truly was okay, which was Shiro's que to go and sleep. Well, try to. He never slept, no matter how hard he tried. Instead, he sat up all night thinking about the darkest thoughts that plagued his mind. His biological parents dying, his year with the Galra, every mistake he'd ever made. The thoughts were endless, constantly flowing like a river with nothing to stop the rush of water. He usually focused on the Galra, but tonight was different. He was thinking about his parents.
Well, his foster parents. He'd been told they weren't his real parents when he was young. But nobody had ever know about that. Not even Keith, and heck - he was a part of that family. Shiro never talked about it, either, so nobody would find out. Before he knew it, Shiro had a certain Altean Princess knocking at his door. The knocks were followed by a concerned call of his own name, which prompted him to get up and open the door. And there Allura stood, looking perfect as always. Shiro then became aware of how much of a mess he probably looked like. Allura was smiling when he opened the door, but her face fell into a worried frown when she saw him. "Shiro? Are you alright? You look tired, and you've missed breakfast. You're usually the first one up. Is something going on?" Quiznack. He'd missed breakfast? He didn't even know what time it was, but he did find that he was very hungry. "Oh, I'm sorry Princess. I wasn't aware of the time. I'm alright. I'll be out in a few minutes." Before Allura could protest, Shiro shut the door and tidied himself up. He then walked out right into Allura and knocked her over. She was the one to be startled this time. "Oh my - I'm so sorry, Princess. I didn't think you were still here." He quickly helped her up and Allura smiled, but still had a hint of concern tugging at the edges of her expression. "That's quite alright, Shiro. I expect you were in a rush to get some food?"
"Yeah, I was. How'd you guess?" Shiro smiled a little bit.
"Well, being a paladin takes a lot of effort. I am certain that you are eager to replenish your energy."
Shiro nodded and smiled, then walked the rest of the way to the kitchen as he and Allura chatted. When they got to the kitchen, there was already a bowl of food goo and a concerned team waiting for Shiro. He smiled and apologised for sleeping in late, then the worried expressions in the room evaporated. As soon as Shiro sat down and picked up the spoon, an alarm rang through the castle. Shiro's face dropped as Lance started to laugh. Then Shiro looked Lance dead in the eye and ate the whole bowl in about 5 seconds flat before getting his armour on. He ran towards his lion, but he was intercepted by Galra who had the element of surprise. He was heavily outnumbered and was soon restrained. As he was being carried into the Galra cruiser, he screamed for help. Then he noticed another team mate already in the cruiser. Their eyes locked and before Shiro could shout his team mate's name, they were both knocked unconscious and everything faded to black.
