Keith had nothing. His mother had left when he was a baby, and his father hadn't stayed around for much longer. That's when Shiro's family had adopted Keith. Shiro and Keith grew up together and had great memories together, something Keith thought himself lucky to have. But then there was an incident that ripped all of that apart. All the happiness was lost, as was the safety Shiro and Keith had. Shiro's parents were taken into prison after two intruders were found dead in their home, knives sticking out of their chests. That's when Shiro and Keith joined the garrison together, as they had nowhere else to go.
Then that dreaded Kerberos mission had separated them. Keith's behaviour went downhill once Shiro was said to be dead, but there was also a small part of relief. Something that had been troubling Keith about Shiro wouldn't be there to bother about. That was why he had mixed feelings when the two were reunited and made part of team Voltron. Keith was glad to see Shiro, of course he was. But now that guilt was coming back to him. Luckily, he'd learnt to deal with it. The others couldn't know, and neither could Shiro. Keith would keep ....it hidden at all times. No matter what.
