"What do you mean he's gone?"

"He's gone. As in poof, he disappeared."

"I know what you mean Jules, but how?"

My best friend Juliette Green rolled her eyes. "Like I would know how the golden boy of Elmwood Central disappeared."

I furrowed my brows. Adrian Parker's gone.

"Does anyone else know what happened?"

Jules laughed to herself. "Of course, Lyric. It's the biggest gossip in school, even in town. I'm surprised that you weren't bombarded by this when you came to school this morning. It's even online. Gives you an excuse to actually get social media."

I rolled my eyes, "Tumblr's social media."

"Uh-huh."

"I'm serious! It is. Plus, I don't need any of that stuff. I'm perfectly content with reading books."

Jules shook her head. "Only you. Only you."

Jules and I started to head towards class. We only share a few classes throughout the day, and that disappointed me until I realized that, once you get to know them, some of my classmates aren't complete and utter douchebags.

As we entered the classroom, my other friends Vaia and Addison rushed up to us.

When Addison neared, Jules smiled tightly, said see you, and rushed off.

I've always wondered about that. About Addison and Jules, I mean. They have a fierce animosity towards each other, and I have no idea why.

Addison grimaced when Jules rushed away. Vaia paid no mind, "So I'm going to healthily assume that you've heard the news."

I huffed as we sat down. "Yeah, I have. Jules just told me."

Addison rolled her eyes. "Well, of course, she heard it from her. Juliette's such a gossip."

Vaia clucked her tongue. "Now Addison, we don't need your daily dose of negativity yet. Give it a rest for now."

"Fine."

I pulled out things for class when my teacher, Mr. Harold, walked in. My class didn't notice but I did. Mr. Harold always reports 10 minutes early to his classroom every day but for some reason not today.

After the announcements and the pledge of allegiance a kid in my class raised his hand, "So Mr. Harold what do you think about Adrian's incident?"

Pfft, he should've asked me. I know for one thing that it is not an incident.

Mr. Harold turned around. "I think that you should all mind your own business and get to work. Open up your textbook and read page 131- 135 then complete problems 1-24 on this handout."

The kid laughed. "Sure thing Mr. H."

I rolled my eyes. Just when I think that my classmates aren't obnoxious someone just has to come and ruin it. I opened up my book and started to do the problems. As the class neared to an end, I swore that I saw Mr. Harold staring at me.

I sat down at my usual table for lunch with Vaia and Addison. Since two of my best friends despise each other I split up my lunchtime. 20 minutes with Addison and Vaia and 20 minutes with Jules.

When Vaia sat down she scrunched up her nose. "It reaks in here. What is that smell?"

Addison overheard us and sat down. "Gosh, Vaia you're so loud. What are you complaining about now?"
