Caitlin

I woke up to two emerald green, beady little eyes looking back at me.
"Chloe what did I tell you about coming into my room in the morning," I said trying to enforce the rule I had set three days ago. It was hard raising Chloe all by myself, with Barry leaving and all that, but I have done a pretty good job and now that Barry is back and he is working for me is bringing out all these emotions that haven't been felt in a long time, especially that he doesn't even know that he has a daughter. I had decided to keep Chloe away from him because I had tried to push him out of my life and pretend what we had never happened.
"But mum there are scary sounds outside the window," she says in a whiney voice bringing me back to reality.
"Soon when mum gets some money saved up we can sell this apartment and move into a big house," I said reassuring Chloe while I was wondering pic that was ever going to happen. I felt bad for lying to her but I knew the truth would just hurt her more.

Mornings were just the same, me going through the basket of washing to find Chloe's clothes with had been washed because she could never keep her clothes clean when she was at preschool. Now it was time for me to get dressed, a pencil skirt and one of my many button up shirts with a blouse to complete my look. I tied my hair back into a bun but soon changed it to a pony tail because I noticed that I looked too uptight. I dropped Chloe off at preschool and drove over to S.T.A.R Labs constantly fixing up any strands off hair that fell out of place.

I greeted Hannah at the front desk on the way in and made my way over to the CEO elevator where I met Barry. I tried avoiding eye contact but he noticed me glancing in his direction.
"Hey Ms Snow," said Barry walking over to me.
"Hey," I said weakly, not wanting to be rude.
"You enjoying your time here at S.T.A.R Labs?" I asked him while in my head begging the elevator doors to open ship I could leave this conversation.
"Good actually," he said replying to many awkwardly asked questions.
"I heard there was a gathering after work for employees, are you going?" He asked, his eyes looking intently at mine waiting for a response.
"I might make an appearance," I said many heart skipping a beat when the elevator doors finally opened. I quickly entered the elevator and shone a quick glance at Barry who had already left.

The doors opened and I walked down the corridor in silence, the only sound was my heels clicking on the polished concrete. I entered my office to find a thick stack of files that I had ignored the day before with the Barry debacle. I sat there for hours sorting through old files and experiment documents, the was one of the bad parts of my week. I thought about Barry's offer to the gathering. I'm sure he won't remember. If I tried to forget him then I'm sure he did the same to me. I only realised that I had stopped sorting through the files when the small amount that was in my hands had slipped away and landed on the floor.

I looked into the mirror and pushed one side of my hair that was now out behind my ear. I didn't want to look like Ann office clerk but I still wanted to like a bit sophisticated.

The bar was a bit packed. They weren't used to having this much people at once. I searched for someone who I could talk to and forget my worries but because of my small statue I couldn't see above most people's heads.
"Looking for someone?"Asked a familiar voice from behind.
"Barry," I said finally getting used to his presence.
"I actually need to talk to you in private," he said changing to a serious tone almost immediately.
"Sure," I said trailing behind him praying that he hadn't recognised me as his ex. After all I had made little and or no interaction at all with him. He lead me up to the rooftop were the cold and crisp air changed the atmosphere significantly.
"I recognised you from the start as the one I once loved, I didn't tell you because I thought you didn't recognise me but it was plain to see every time I tried to make eye contact with you, you avoided me," he said silently confessing.
"Barry-,"
"I know you probably don't love me any more but I wanted to let you know that I'm sorry-," he said as sincerely asks possible. I could see his eyes getting watery.
"Barry," I said cutting him off.
"I don't want to deal with this, all I want is for us to pretend that we never happened," I said, my eyes starting to tear up as well.
"Caitlin," he said softly, but it was too late I had already left him alone on the rooftop.
