《13》

Part One

Caitlin

Now that we had our samples from Australia, we now had to test them with cancer cells. Which meant a lot of work to be done in a short time span, this often leads to me staying back a work a few hours later. Usually, I would have gotten Cisco to look after Chloe but he has work of his own to complete, but now that I had Barry and he doesn't have to stay back late, he can look after her until I get back. I called Barry into my office which felt very weird because we are now moving into the stage where we are reconciling our past and moving on and acting like we are only co-workers doesn't feel natural. A knock came from the door and Barry's face popped in.
"Ah Barry I wanted to ask you a favour," I said welcoming him in.
"What is it?" he inquired.
"I'm working late tonight and I wanted to know if you could look after Chloe for a few hours," I wondered.
"Sure," agreed Barry.
"Just pick her up from preschool and I'll pick her up from your place later tonight," I instructed but as soon as I finished my sentence he was gone. I think he is too excited for his first time alone with Chloe. He'll probably have some grand extravagant night planned but I think he is ready for this. From what I have observerd Barry and I's relationship has been mended and we are on the road to recovery, I now trust him more now than I did when he first came to S.T.A.R Labs because I know he has changed.

I was going through test results but couldn't keep my train of thought, I ended up just calling Barry to check if everything was doing ok.
"Barry, how is Chloe?" I asked trying not to sound to desperate.
"All too she is in the car with me now-"
"Hey Mummy," cheered Chloe from the back seat. A sigh of relief came through the phone.
"Don't worry, we are going home and watching an educational movies because who doesn't just want to curl up in a ball of blankets and watch a movie in this weather," he said. Barry was right, rain was pouring down outside and it was the perfect weather for a movie.
"Just make sure she is washed by the time I get home," I muttered before I hung up. With Chloe and Barry off my mind I could now get back to work.

~Meanwhile~

Barry

"Almost home," I repeated once again. Chloe was very persistent about knowing were we are.
"I like the rain," she blurted out.
"Me too, it means you can sleep all day and achieve nothing," I reminisced.
"But it's wrong you should be doing school stuff... I think," I said to her while pulling up to the underground car park of the apartment complex. I still haven't really got this parenting thing down pat, but for a beginner father, I've done a pretty good job from my point of view. Putting Chloe's seatbelt in is much easier than taking it off. I almost just thought of cutting her out, but she showed me how it was done from her expirence of Caitlin doing it right in front of her. I don't know how women can have a child in their hands and complete tasks with the other hand, it is harder than it looks, at one point I had to put Chloe down so I could reach under my car and get my keys.
Once in the apartment I put on the tv for Chloe while I quickly did the dishes I forgot to do last night. So Caitlin didn't get mad at me I just decieded to get Chloe washed  now and get it over and done with. I texted Nora for advice if I should use a shower or the bath to wash an infant and had to say I was babysitting for a friend becasue I wasn't prepared to deal with the  drama at the time. I ran some warm water and made a shallow bath, rolled up my sleeves, undressed her and put her in. I didn't think using shower gel would matter, Caitlin had told me she had taught her to wash herself, I just needed to put the soap in her hands. She was right and Chloe was a quick learner. She was washed and dry in 10 minutes. Caitlin was obviously prepared because she had packed some pyjamas for her to get changed into.
