Chapter 3

[Magnus' POV]
I tapped my foot impatiently on the wooden floor as I waited for those idiots to arrive. What part of "SOS" did they not understand?

Finally I heard a knock on the front door and footsteps followed. A man with raven hair and a women with dark blue hair entered my room. Two sets of dark blue eyes focused on me, one with nonchalance and the other with worry. I glared back at them, my golden-green eyes glowering.

"What took you guys so long?" I asked, clearly irritated. "And where is the other guy?"

A loud crash from the outside answered my question. I sighed and looked out the window.  A dash of silvery hair was barely visible in the snow, now surrounded by many broken red elves and a yowling yeti.

“Jem! Get up here!" I yelled and turned to the others. "He broke the red elves this year"

“The toy cars from last year were better. But I can never forget the Barbie’s from a couple years back" Will snorted while Cat giggled, reminiscing the memory of a scared Jem tangled in a sea of Barbie’s in the basement. A day to remember.

Jem finally shuffled into the room, looking dazed and slightly bruised. His silvery eyes focused on me as he smiled an apologetic smile. I waved my hand “it’s okay” I answered his unspoken apology. His smile turned bright at my words, warming my heart. These are my best friends. They know me and understand me better than anyone else.

“For the one who is supposed to be quiet according to the legends, you sure are loud” Will said.

I sighed. Well, friends with their unique perks, I guess. They always seem to be coming with those extra consequences.

“I am NOT quiet” Jem glared at Will.

“We know that, honestly” Will countered and started laughing. Cat and I shared a glance, ‘save me’ she mouthed.

“Okay, that’s enough kids” I said, snapping my fingers and Will went suddenly silent. Jem’s eyes widened as he started laughing at a dumb Will.

“Who’s dumb now huh?” he said in-between laughs.

“Guys. Lets focus. What was the emergency about, Magnus?” Cat, always the level headed one, asked.

“Valentine”.

That one word echoed across the room as it turned deadly quiet. We were looking at each other, raw pain in our eyes. We knew our losses from the dark ages. We barely made it out then.

“He’s gotten stronger” I said.

“What makes you think it’s him? Maybe its some rogue power-yielder. Or maybe it’s just a mistake. Maybe you’re just being delirious. Maybe-”

“Jem. Breathe. And I know what I saw” I replied quietly.

The silence that stretched out now was longer than the first, the atmosphere grim and sad.

All four of us knew that we wouldn’t be able to defeat him again. That we didn’t stand a chance. But we cannot afford losing to him. That meant destruction to the world.

“Raziel” Jem whispered. I raised my head and stared at him, questioningly. “We’ll ask Raziel. He can tell us what to do” he continued.

“And what makes you think he’ll answer us?” Cat said. I had the same thought. Last time, we were all on our own when we defeated Valentine.

Will perked up as he pointed to the roof excitedly. We ignored him. He was much less of an asshole when he cant talk. Maybe I should try this more often.

But then, he started waving his hands wildly. Was he okay? Definitely not.

His expression turned from irritation to anger as we all stared at him, not knowing what to do. I really didn’t want to give his speech back just yet. This was amusing.

His mouth opened in a silent yell of rage as he ran over to me and grabbed my face with both his hands.

“Will, what the hell?” I asked surprised. But then he turned my head upwards to the roof and I saw it.

Golden strings of light swirled, forming letters, grouping together to form two words.

I heard Cat and Jem gasp and my heart raced as I read them.

And here, magnus only knows the name in the legends that is jack frost; just like how alec still knows magnus only as 'santa'
