Hello There Dear Reader!
I just wanted to take a moment of your time to explain some things about my story to you before you start. That way you are not wasting your time reading something you will end up not liking.
First and foremost... This is a Dramione fic. If you do not like this pairing, you will not want to read this one!
I am going to try to keep to the timeline set out in the books as much as possible- at least to start out with. Who knows where it could end up later on down the line... But for now, Cannon(ish) Timeline! The story starts a week before Slughorn's Christmas party in The Half-Blood Prince. There will be A/U elements and twisting of scenes from the originals to make them fit.
Eventually the M rating will be earned. Not right away, but it will happen. I plan to touch on some dark subject matter including; emotional and physical abuse, murder, torture, self-harm and depression. I am not limiting myself to just those subjects. If I feel like the story needs it, I will add it. This has been your trigger warning. I probably will not repeat it before a disturbing chapter unless I feel it is truly needed.
With that said- I am not planning on writing a how-to guide on any of the things listed above. Abuse, murder, depression and so on were all subjects that were touched on in the author's original works. So it should not come as a shock that I will do the same, I am just delving a little deeper...
Depression and anxiety will be more of the focus in this story. It is something I find to be a natural response to the current circumstances going on in the characters' lives. Self-harm and suicidal thoughts will be referenced. This does not mean that they will be glorified. If anything, I hope, as the series continues, to be able to share the message that asking for help in those instances is something that we should all do.
Any murder or torture that does come up will be done in a similar fashion to the author's work. Leaning more along the lines of "Crucio" and The Killing Curse than explaining how to cut off digits or anything like that. If you are looking for lots of descriptive torture scenes between characters, again, this might not be the story for you.
The abuse that will be touched on will revolve around Hermione being bullied and Draco's home life. This Draco has grown up/is growing up in a very dark world. Things are not going to be sunshine and rainbows for our boy.
Lemons will be happening, but I don't have any plans for straight out erotica to be posted in this version. Kissing and heavy petting scenes will be sprinkled (liberally) throughout but anything beyond that will not be included here. Archive of Our Own has the real juicy stuff! If you are interested in the descriptive scenes, you can find the story under the same title and author's name: Anyone But Me by SlytherclawLuv. I have no plans to change the narrative between the two sites. Just the naughty bits. ;)
If anything that I listed above rubs you the wrong way... You should turn back now, no hard feelings!

Thank you for giving my fic a chance. This is my first story EVER. I am super nervous to be putting it out there and hope it gets a decent reception. I encourage constructive reviews! If you see a way I could make the story better or something I should fix, please let me know.
That being said, I would like to reiterate that this is my first story. It does take me a few chapters to really find "my voice" as a writer. I have done a bunch of work to try and clean them up for you guys. Hopefully, you will ultimately decide to give this a chance and find that my writing really does get better, lol.
I, of course, own nothing. J.K. Rowling is the sole creator of the Harry Potter Universe. I have taken liberties with it and her characters. I will receive no compensation for the time spent on this fic. Only the warm fuzzies of knowing someone else took the time to read my work.
And before you go, I need to give some beta-love to Jketcham. She deserves all the props for working on fixing my many, many, many mistakes. The first half of "Anyone But Me" would be an unreadable mess without her. I will always be grateful for the hours she dedicated to it!
