Dream/Flashback

I was sitting in a chair, in a fairly large room with light grey walls, a nice change from the blinding white that seemed to dominate my dreamland. In front of me there was a boy, talking fast and using crazy hand gestures but honestly I wasn't really paying attention to what he was saying, I was just staring at him flapping his hands like a disoriented chicken. Before I fell too deep into my fantasy about flying chickens he turned to me, his slightly crazy hazel eyes searching mine for an answer to his question, that I couldn't for the life of me remember...
"Huh?" I said finally focussing.
"Luna are you even listening to me?" He said tapping his foot into the ground
"No, no... I mean yes I am, I am even listening to you... But do you maybe wanna say it again so you can be sure you said the right thing?" I saved it (right?)
"You're lucky I love you. And I mean like very lucky. Rabbit foot who? Sorry you're out of business Luna is the luckiest"
"Okay okay I get it, sorry I wasn't listening, what were you saying?" I said actually paying attention now
"I was saying that the creatures they want us to put in that place are disgusting" he said making a weird face.
"Oh come on how bad can they be? And stop making that face like you smelled your armpit!"
"First of all my armpits smell nice, they smell like rainbows and flowers" He said
"Right and mine smell like dreams and stardust..."
"And second" he said ignoring my sarcastic comment(something he seemed to be doing a lot) "they are honestly disgusting I'm trying to get them to change them into something more... human"
Suddenly the mood seemed to change and become darker, no signs of the playful remarks we were used to.
"I won't let you get in there" I said nodding my head in a silent vow to myself.
"It's not really your decision to make" He said, looking down at his hands.
"Well I am never one to listen to others, now am I?" I said smirking a bit.
"No, no you aren't..." he said smiling slightly "not always a good thing you know?"
"Yay but what can you do I am just fabulous in that way, in every way, I am perfect" I said the mood seemingly lighter.
"Yes and I'm an elephant"
"No I think you are a chicken"

End of Dream/Flashback

"Luna. Luna. Come on Grennie you need to get up!"
Someone had me from the shoulders, shaking me awake. And that someone was in trouble because I wanted to sleep and they wouldn't let me...
"Whatcha want?" I said with my face in the pillow, my voice muffled and laced with sleep.
"Come on Luna trust me I want to sleep too but I need to saw you something before the others wake up"
"But I don't waaannnnaaa..." I said like a toddler that needs to get ready for school.
"Please Lu, I have a lot in my plate right now, I don't want to deal with this too" Newt said.
'Wait... Newt?!' At that moment of genius realisation my sleep deprived mind finally got a grasp of reality.
My eyes opened wide and I shot up in bed, grabbing my blanket and holding it to my chest with one hand while with the other I threw my pillow at the the boy next to me.
"What the hell Newt, why are you in my room!" I shouted.
"Shh be quiet! You'll wake the whole Glade up! And what to you mean 'what the hell' you bloody asked me to stay"
"What do you mean I asked you to sta- Ohhhh right... sorry... I thought that whole thing with Alex and the others was a dream..." I said suddenly finding the rough blanket very interesting. There was an awkward silence between as, Newt trying to look at me and myself avoiding his gaze...
"Oh, em so yeah... I need to show you something" he said changing the subject much to my joy.
"Right yes, what is it?" I asked putting a stray piece of hair out of my face.
"Come on follow me, Grennie"
With that our adventure of avoiding stepping into creaky steps and snoring boys started. Soon enough we were outside of the Homestead, the sun not even visible yet, the doors to the maze still shut and a slight breeze in the air.
"Why are we awake in this ungodly hour" I moaned tugging my sleeves further down my arms and rubbing them to get some heat.
"Stop complaining Grennie you need to see this, I would have actually shown you yesterday but that bloody drama queen wanted me in that sucking maze from the crack of dawn" He said gently pushing me towards one of the walls.
"Drama queen? You mean Minho?" I asked slightly laughing.
"Who else could I mean?!" He said laughing as well.
I didn't notice it but I was now standing directly in front of a dirty window in the wall Newt behind me his hand on the small of my back. I looked into his eyes and the familiar light I usually saw was replaced by a serious darkness.
"Go ahead Grennie look into the window" he said taking a step back.
I looked through the window and all I could see were walls covered in ivy. Suddenly come a small bug with a red light. It stopped right outside the window and I could swear it felt like it was watching me. I took a step forward almost pressing my face into the dirty window to take a closer look at the weird creature. Suddenly another creature came into my line of vision, slightly hidden in the shadows and the little bug flew away. Curious I actually pressed my face into the window and in hindsight I wish I hadn't. At that moment the spider-like creature that had the size of a cow and a bazillion knifes stuck to its deformed body jumped out of the dark and right at the window with such force I actually thought it was going to break it. After a few seconds of no blinking and ragged breathing the monster retreated back leaving me staring after it.
"What was that..." my voice was so weak I don't even know how Newt heard it.
"That Luna, is a Griever. It's the reason why we are all glad those suck doors close every night. It's why we don't go in the maze at night. And it's the reason you will never break the rules. Got that Grennie?" I nodded my head weakly
"Good that. You better head to breakfast, the cooks should be awake by now" he said nodding towards the kitchen.
"What about you?" I asked, not wanting to be all alone.
"I have to get ready, we are having a gathering after breakfast" he said already moving towards the Homestead.
"What's a gathering?" I asked trying to keep up with him.
"You know you do ask a lot of questions Luna... Don't matter you will know soon enough. Now go, get something to eat and ask Fry to sit with you if you don't want to be alone"
And with that he broke into a light sprint towards the old building in the centre of the glade leaving me alone to head for breakfast, even if I knew I wouldn't eat after the little show on the window...
