"You're taking me to a club?"
"Why not? Clay said you need to make friends, so what better place than a club! Plus you can meet some of my friends that are already here."
Perfect. Just what I need. A bunch of drunk, reckless teens and loud obnoxious music.
This is exactly how I'm suppose to treat my anxiety.
Addison and I showed the security guard our ID, and he motioned us inside the building. Immediately Addison waved over a boy and a girl; one possessing a bottle of Bud Light, one with Corona. Hugging them briefly, she directed their attention towards me.
"Phoebe, this is London and Alec. They're both Seniors at Skyline High."
Alec was the first to acknowledge me.
"Nice to meet you. Are you registered at Skyline?"
"Well, no actually.. I haven't had much time to think about school.."
London was ice cold; eyes dark and emotionless glare. She almost looked dead, if it wasn't for the slight coloration in her cheeks.
"Oh, well if you ever decide, London and I would be happy to tour you around one day."
London snickered. "Speak for yourself." She turned on her heels and rejoined the crowd of teens.
Alec leaned closer. "Don't worry about her. She just hates competition."
"Competition? For what?"
"Me." He winked and then went back to accompanying London on the dance floor.
I heard Addison mutter something under her breath, and when I looked back at her she was shaking her head.
"Don't fall for him. He may be hot as hell, but he knows how to flatter a girl and it falls downhill from there."
"You two have history?"
"I was engaged to him."
I felt my jaw drop to my knees.
"Until I found out he was sleeping with London. I called him out on it, 20 minutes later his ass was thrown into the middle of a parking garage downtown."
"Did London find out?"
"Of course she did. And you know what she did? She gave him the key to her house. Been living together ever since. Naive little she-devil."
"Well.. Damian and I are already together so you don't have to worry about me." He does enough of that already.
"So it's official? You and Damian are dating?"
I stared down awkwardly at my hands. This whole conversation was making me uncomfortable. "Can we go grab a drink?"
Addison led us over to the bar and we sat on the stools to order. I checked my phone while waiting.
So far, Damian hasn't bothered to check up with me.
The bartender approached us. "What can I get for you?"
I ordered a shot of tequila and shortly after she returned with my drink.
"Wait, I'm only 17. They don't ask for ID?"
"This club is owned by two 19 year olds. No one cares what's illegal and what's not."
" But... what if we get caught?"
She smirked. "No one ever gets caught in Mockersville."
Toast to that.
"Another shot?" the bartender asked.
