Chapter 13

I call Ivan and tell him to bring the doctor.
They quickly walk in and ask me what's wrong.
Y:he squeezed my hand!
I said in tears.
Ivan and Rueben gasp and the doctor walks over to him quickly.
D:Emilio? Hello? Can you hear me?
Emi takes a deep breath then slowly opens his eyes. I burst out in tears, happy tears.
Y:Emi!!
He smiles at me.
E:hey mi amor.
I quickly give him a hug. He hugs me back. I kiss his cheek before pulling away.
D:I need to run a couple of tests on him but I'll wait a couple more minutes.
Y:thank you.
He smiles and walks out of the room.
Ivan and Rueben walk over to Emi.
I:hey bro!
E:hey guys!
We all have tears in our eyes. Ivan gives Emi a hug and Reuben after him.
E:where are the twins?
Y:with Caitlyn.
E:ok.

A few minutes later

Nurse: Mrs.Martinez?
Ivan,Rueben,and I walk over to her.
N:Emilio is doing just fine. You can see him now.
Y:thank you.

We walk into Emi's room and the doctor is in here.
D:so, Emilio's body is weak right now so in about a hour or so he will regain his strength and he can go home.
We sigh in relief.
I: thanks doctor.
He smiles at us.
D:I recommend getting him something to eat since he hasn't ate in a few days.
Y:will do!
The doctor walks out and we walk over to Emi.
I:what do you want to eat bro?
E:do they have burgers?
I: yeah
E: one of them.
I: ok. I'll be right back.
He walks out of the room.

A hour later

E:I want to try to stand.
I:alright.
Emi raises up.
Y:careful.
He carefully slides over to the edge of the bed. Ivan helps him stand. He lets go.
E:heck yeah!
We all laugh.
I walk over to him and hug him. He hugs back. I've missed this so much. He kisses my head. I look up at him. He pulls away and holds my face in his hands. He leans closer to me and kisses me. We pull apart and smile at each other.
E:I missed that so much.
Y:me too.
We hug again. Ivan and Reuben join in.
The doctor walks in. *cough*
We pull apart.
D:I see that you've regained your strength, Emilio.
E:yep!
D:ok, you are free to go home!
E:thank you,doctor.
The doctor nods and smiles then walks out.
E:let's go home.
We smile and he wraps his arm around my shoulders and we all walk out.

A few minutes later

We get out of the car and I knock on the door of Ivan,Rueben,and Caitlyn's house. Caitlyn opens the door.
C:Emilio! You're okay!
E:hey Caitlyn.
They hug.
Caitlyn steps out of the way and we all walk inside. The twins are sitting on the couch watching Mickey Mouse.
E:hey girls!
A&Em: DADDY!!
They quickly get off the couch and run over to Emi and hug him. Emi kisses then both on the cheek and picks them up.

Later

We arrived back home and put the twins to bed. Emi and I sit on the couch.
Y:I'm so glad you're back, Emi.
E:me too.
Y:when you were in the coma, could you hear anything?
E:yeah. I could hear everything. I just couldn't feel anything.
Y:oh.
E:your voice is what gave me the power to wake up.
Y:really?
E:yeah. I was about to give up until I heard you.
I gasp.
E: te amo mucho. (I love you so much)
Y: yo tambuién te quiero. (I love you to)
His eyes widen.
Y:I learned some Spanish in my free time.
E:I'm impressed.
Y:I can tell.
We both giggle.
I yawn. Emi smiled and gets up off the couch. He quickly picks me up bridal style. I let out a scream. Then I start to laugh and he takes me up to our room. He puts me down on the bed. We get changed into our pajamas and get in the bed. I cuddle up to him and he puts his arm around my waist.
E: Buenas noches bebe. (Good night baby)
Y:buenas noches. (Good night)
He smiles at me and kisses my head.
