I was trying to stay awake to create a plan, but I honestly didn't get anywhere and I passed out.
When I woke up, I felt hungry. Really hungry. I dislike the idea of being vulnerable and lonely here. I study the room. Sort of dark. Old gray walls. Brownish floorboards. Nothing exciting.
Carlton comes back a few minutes later. He looks like he doesn't get much sleep but would never admit it. He is holding biscuits, gravy, eggs, and bacon. "Morning, sunshine."
I scowl. I'm not eating his food. I'd rather not get poisoned. "What do you want?"
Carlton shrugs. "Where are your friends?"
"Yeah, not happening," I snarl. I watch him set down the food in front of me. "And I'm not eating the food."
Carlton shrugs again and smiles. Creepily. The smile doesn't reach his eyes. "But you need to eat up, darling. Honestly."
"And why is that?" I reply with menace in my voice.
"Do you want to leave?" Carlton asks. He doesn't wait for an answer. "Stop asking questions. That's my job. For now, your job is to stay put."
He moves toward me but I growl threateningly. "Don't touch me or I'll bite off your hand."
He laughs. "That won't happen. Believe me." Before I can react, he slithers to me, fast as a snake, and jams some sort of needle in my neck.
"Hey! What the-" My mouth falls. Suddenly, I can't move. My entire body is numb. Blinking tires me. I want to ask him what the heck that was but I can't even talk.
Carlton carries me onto a moveable bed, straps me down, and pushes me upstairs with the help of two men that appeared from the stairs.
Carlton puts a blindfold over my eyes once we're upstairs. For 2 minutes straight, I'm being pushed through hallways and doors until I'm finally in a small room. The air is warm but unpleasant. It smells like tuna.
I can't wrinkle my nose. I'm still really numb. However, even though I can't feel anything, my ears still work.
That's when I hear a familiar voice say, "(Y/N)?"
Julia?!
