You have more things to worry about than Julia's love life! I scolded myself. It was unfair that I just go into her business. But she did yell at me and I don't think I deserved that.

Julia didn't talk to me for as long as she could. I don't blame her. Everyone realized the tension between Julia and I... And then we also noticed the tension between Julia and Gavin.

When Gavin was watching for zombies, Julia was sitting alone on the floor, staring at the sky. Destiney was checking the supplies. My stomach growled and I realized how hungry I was.

Jay came to stand by me. "I don't want to be nosy," he started after a moment. "But what did you say to Julia?"

I bristled. "I asked her what she was talking about with Gavin, then she just yelled at me!" I was glad Julia was far away, so she couldn't hear our conversation.

Jay shifted his feet. "Why? What do you think they were talking about?" He demanded quietly. Before I replied, he held my hand.

"Oh um... Julia just said I was being nosy," I continued. "I'm not sure what they were talking about. But they were completely happy before Gavin asked something and Julia probably said 'no.'"

I tipped my head. "I know Gavin and Julia like each other," I went on. "I'm not sure. But it hurt when Julia snapped at me and now she isn't talking to me. I wish we could still be friends, but... She just hates me." Jay's eyes met mine and I waited for him to comfort me and say something like "You'll make up, soon..." Or something.

He looked away and held my hand tighter. Here it comes...

"What else did you hear?" He asked, meeting my eyes a second time.

My mouth dropped. He just came here to gossip about Julia and Gavin! I realized. Narrowing my eyes, I ripped my hand away from his. "If you want to know everything, go ask Julia!" I snapped. "Don't try and get answers from me!"

Jay watched me walk away to Destiney. "Wait.." But I did not go or look back. Destiney was my only friend now. I crouched beside her.

Destiney finished with satisfaction. "Everything's good! All the canned food is still there and ready. And the weapons are still good, very reusable, especially those katanas of yours." She beamed at me, then noticed the depressed look on my face. "What's wrong?"

"Jay," I growled, glancing back at him. He was staring at Gavin, a regretful look on his face. "I thought he was going to tell me that Julia would come back to me, but no. He was just asking stupid questions and being nosy."

"You don't need your future husband to tell you that," Destiney retorted, touching my shoulder.

"Thanks- Wait. Future husband?" I squeaked, so loud that even Gavin turned to look. Jay craned his neck and met my eyes again.

Destiney let out a squeal of laughter. "Yup! You are destined to be!"

"No, we're Destineyed to be," I joked quietly, trying not to let Jay or anyone else hear. It would be very embarrassing.... If Jay figured out I was in love with him.. Oh God.

"Anyway," Destiney continued, still with the joke-look on her face. "You and Julia will make up soon." She zipped the bag up and swung it on her back.

I narrowed my eyes. "What about Gavin?" I demanded. "Him and Julia stopped talking."

"(Y/N), stop. They'll make up, too," Destiney said briskly. "Meanwhile, go get Jay and he can split up the food for us. It is evening, and we should eat."

I smiled. We were going to eat and I am pretty hungry. My stomach growled again. Then, I realized Destiney just told me to get Jay. Frowning, I scowled. "Why do I have to get Jay?"

Destiney rolled her eyes. "Fine." She got up from her sitting position, lay down the bag, and went over to him. Meanwhile, I backed away. No interaction with him.

Destiney came back after a moment, though I was a few feet away. Jay was on her heels. "Gavin, Julia, come over here. It's time to-"

There was a gun shot and Gavin nearly tripped.

"Gavin!" Julia shrieked, coming over to him. I realized with relief Gavin was the one who shot the gun. "Are you okay? What happened?" Julia seemed frightened.

Gavin turned to glance at her, his eyes wide with shock. "It was just a zombie. Why do you care?"

Bad move, damn it! I rolled my eyes.

Julia backed away, scowling. "I-I don't care. You tell me why!" She whipped around, dodged me, and sat by Jay, who was splitting up a giant can of tuna.

Gavin's eyes were even more wide in dismay. So you realized you said the wrong thing, didn't you? This guy can be such an idiot. But then again, so can Jay.

I waited for my part of the tuna. I was hungry, but tuna definitely wasn't my favorite. Finally, Jay got mine, without even looking at me, which made me hurt. Why does everyone hurt me?

Gavin slowly came and quickly ate his share. He went back to his gun and gloomily watched the area. He had already knocked down one zombie.

Suddenly my heartbeat quickened. What if more zombies came? Surely Gavin couldn't take them all out before they came inside the building?

Suddenly Jay, as quick as a snake, slithered to my side. "Hey, it'll be alright. I'm here for you." Oh, sure. He's too nosy to be here for me.

I glared at him with cold eyes. Before I responded, I swallowed the last mouthful of the portion of tuna, while scowling. "You're not here for me. You only exist to be in everyone's business and try to impress girls who have no experience talking to you." Before letting him reply, I walked away.
