A/n- I'm so sorry that I have not updated. I completely forgot about this fic. If I don't update in like a week or two you all have permission to badger me for updates. Again if you have any ideas on what path the story should go feel free to tell me.

I awoke to an empty clearing and Artemis curled up against my neck. The sun was already halfway across the sky. I had slept in, it was almost noon already. The blaring sun made the shade from the trees feel like heaven. As I shifted I could see the lingering people who were almost always watching me. I suppose that dragons are rare now. The idea is so alien. Before galbatorix attacked Dragon were revered but still kind of common. Most people got to see a dragon once or twice a month. Not that often but still they weren't this shocked by a dragon. The gravity of the situation hit me.  I was one of the last of my species. Eragon had said the before me Thorn and Saphira were the last hatched dragon. Maybe there are more eggs hidden somewhere. Oromis once mentioned a plan to keep my species alive if someone ever tried to wipe us out.

I stood up with a jolt and the small fox was almost crushed. I forgot about Glaedr, he was still alive. Kind of. I attempted to search the camp for his mind, but was stopped at the edge of the clearing. I snorted in frustration. A small bark brought my attention back down to Artemis. She glanced at the river then at me. What she wanted was obvious. Within minutes I had speared two large fish. I set the smaller of the two in front of Artemis and swallowed the other one in one bite. The sun was glaringly bright. I needed to find a way out of this clearing. It was obvious that eragon was just a hatchling, he barely knew anything about dragons. Glaedr would better explain what would happen. Just as I was about to throw myself into the barrier in hopes of knocking it down when I heard wingbeats. Saphira rose from the tents and swooped towards me. I felt mixed emotions about seeing them again. I was mainly excited about seeing or talking to Glaedr again. It's strange to think that the once magnificent dragon was reduced to a glorified stone. I pushed the thought out of my mind as Saphira descended down to the clearing. Just as the day before the force field illuminated then dissolved, but I didn't try to leave.

"Hello Evarína," Eragon called as he climbed down Saphira. I noticed saddle bags attached to her saddle that weren't there before.

Hello. Did you bring Glaedr? I asked. He nodded and undid the buckle on the saddle bag. He pulled out an eldunarí. The gem-like organ glowed a dullish gold.

I carefully reached out my mind to him. At first a defensive wall as strong as steel erected, but after a moment I felt it slowly lower. Another mind touched my mind and I recognized it immediately. I held out my talons to Eragon and he gingerly hand me the stone. Suddenly I felt Glaedrs mind attack mine. My body seized up, but I took extra care not to drop the eldunarí. Memories flashed through my head as he searched my mind. I saw him and Vroengard, my rider and flying through the air. I saw me being captured and taken to the cave. I relived the torture that Galbatorix put me through and him asking me to join him. Then I saw my escape and the attack stopped. The entire process had only taken a few moments.

I flinched as his mind pressed against mine again. This time though he didn't attack.

Evarína? A hesitant voice asked. In surprise I jerk away from the mind. After a moment of consideration I let our minds join again. How are you alive?  The voice asked incredulously. I was positive this was Glaedr at this point.

Galbatorix wanted to try and recruit me to "remake" the age of the riders. And the rest, well, you saw that, I explained simply. I encountered a burst of sympathy from Glaedrs mind, paired with guilt.

I'm so sorry. If we had ANY idea that he had you we would have organized a rescue mission immediately. We found your riders body, I'm so sorry. I understand how losing your rider feels now he ranted. I sighed, I couldn't deny that I hoped a rider had survived and would save me. That was a fantasy that I often had when the torture proved too much. Just the hope that someone would save me kept be hopeful of the first decade, but eventually that dissipated.

It's fine, no one could have possibly known what happened. With Kinara dead all the riders must have assumed I was too. We both saw the massacre of dragons that day. Any dragons that went missing where probably assumed dead too, but they probably are dead.  After I finished talking there was a moment of silence. Eragon cleared his throat awkwardly and i realised that he couldn't hear us. I was just laying there with Glaedr in my hands. I shooed him away with one of my talons and he sighed and laid against Saphira. He obviously knew this wasn't going to be over soon.

A/n- I need an editor for a Simon vs the homosapiens agenda fic. If you are willing to help pm me. I can pay in the form of drawings of dragons.
